American politicians and corporations LOVE to wrap themselves in the American flag to praise how they love soldiers and sailors, sending them off to fight some godforsaken war in some crap hole country. But when it suddenly comes to benefits, pay raise, or updated equipment... they're suddenly quiet, talk doublespeak, or unwilling to do anything. :shakes head: It's been like that since... well... forever it seems... |

I'd honestly rather have Nissan discontinue the Z and focus solely on the GTR vs a half assed attempt for the z35 that is intentionally handicapped to keep its performance distant from the GTR

And I don't want this to happen unless the GTR starts being offered with a manual again. |
Would be interesting if they decided to keep the Z NA and GTR TT'd...
but really as long as the engine is made by MB this will probably be my first and last Nissan. |

The Z on the other hand, has been pretty much ignored By Nissan (sans some minor cosmetic changes) since its debut in 2009. |

The speculation should just be that, No need to turn this into a penis contest. The specs and reviews out for the 2015 Nismo from Z days can't remember if there are changes to the 2015 non Nismo models yet. |

If the Nissan IDx becomes a reality and costs less than $30K... I won't mind the Z going upmarket and costing in the $50K range. That doesn't mean I'd be getting said Z... I'd probably buy the affordable IDx... but at least the Z could get nice things that would make it go faster and perform better.
I don't see why Nissan should compete against itself with two $30K sports cars. I'm also not a traditionalist who thinks the Z must be Nissan's cheapest racer because it's always been that way. As long as the price is justified by performance and Nissan still offers an affordable sports car, I'm good with it. Seems like the IDx will give me the cheap option... and the Z will finally be worthy of it's inflating price tag. I've no problem with that: I don't have to own every Z that's ever made. Just a good sports car. |
I could go for a boosted I4 in the IDx. As long as it's RWD and manual, that would be a fun-*** car.

But... you know... it's a Nissan... ;) |
noisy exhaust is not the 'thing' for the normal folk so i dont expect it to be loud at all.
even the G35C's exhausts were considered loud for those living in condo/apartments with garage structure parking. |

Note that I'm not saying the current platform is worth $60k, I'm saying the new one should go upmarket. |
The Z35 isn't going to base with a 211 hp engine, its lower than the 1900's; like saying its going to be diesel. Its going to have 375 & 400 hp for the NISMO. A 3.0 liter is too low, & Nissan isn't going to go lower than 3.5 liters. The line would collapse completely. Nissan will only go down to 3.6 liters & up to 3.9 liters.
It will probably have launch control, because of the Mustang 5.0, new TPMS with readouts,, faster gears (2015's), about the same weight, handling improvements, better brakes, & improved aero. The S2K & Supra aren't returning either. Toyota's model is already out, the FRS. The LFA replaced the Supra, hence FRS. Nissan already picked a fight with Porsche, it has to stay in it with the 911-991 C2, & C4. Expect a low 12's car & a 0-60 of in the high 3's. But again, we all know the Z has a marketed 0-60 of 4.6 s; yet, I can ET 4.2-4.4 s...The Z is going to be in the high 3's, with being able to knock off some more time - no worse than 4.0 s, so yeah, 3.9 s (with a possible 3.7-3.8 s). |

Remember, Nissan also understands turbo engines, they got a 3.8, 6 cylinder pushing 595 horses. So a smaller 3.0 turbo with taller gearing in the high gears or a 7th gear could help Nissan increase its mpg ratings city & hwy plus improve power at the same time. Also an engine like this could be used to power the Infiniti line of cars in the USA as well. Keep in mind, Infiniti is already using the 2.0, 4 clyinder turbo in Europe already. |
More info on the next 370Z
The Mercedes engine with hybrid setup has pretty much been confirmed so I would come to terms with that. Also the rumored turbo four will most likely also have additional power from a hybrid setup so both versions will most likely best our z34's and should justify the rumored higher price tags.

Rumors aside, is the presumed reveal still happening in January or is there anything sooner on the horizon (end of Oct)?
