In California, it is required that you have both the front and back plate on at all times. I always take off the front because it looks fugly with it on.

In NC only a rear plate is required and that's great because I hate how cars look with front plates. As far as dealers go many of them do put their special dealer plate on the front and they do typically put it up there by drilling two holes in the front of the bumper. I'm not worried about the dealer doing this to my 370Z though because I'm ordering mine from the factory and will tell them not to put on the dealer plate.

I think you have the drill onto the front bumper . I do remember Stillen coming out with a great product for the 350Z. Maybe you can contact Stillen. They ARE one of our sponsors

I'm gonna sound so stupid for this but, you can order from the factory? How do you do that? And does that mean you only have to pay invoice? If so, why doesn't everyone do this?

Looking forward to STILLEN'S answer for the 370z

AK370Z, do you ever sleep? I heard a rumor that you are really just a robot that replies to every post no matter what time of day it is.

I think Matt has the same problem.

I have only slept 5 hours in last 30 hours. My eyes are closing now but I still have some stuff to do here on the forums. It's 5:41 AM here BTW

If you look at the owners manual it shows that the holes are drilled through the black part of the bumper. Usually the dealers are the ones that installs the license plate when the car arrives at the dealership. I bought the z bracket for my 350z. But if you're clever you shouldn't have to buy the z bracket and just screw your plates directly into the black part.

Right. That's what I figured when seeing that black strip that fattens up right in the center.

Most states require front license plates. If you don't want holes in your front bumper make sure to tell the dealer repeatedly not to drill it.

It does look better without a front license plate but I think it loses its novelty after getting the first few tickets.

I don't like how front plates looks in any car...
Just tell the dealer, if its not required by law, that you don't want anything on your front bumper, anything, no holes, no screws no nothing. They have to honor you that because you are the customer and you are making the purchase of a specific product.

When I use to work at the Nissan dealership here in Honolulu...we were required to drill into the bumpers...well...except for the GT-R
