In retrospect it seems like this is IGN, rating so harshly.

They are just responding to the negativism of Edmunds. They haven't proven themselves to be very good automotive journalists so I'd just tend to ignore it all..

I guess Nissan hasn't greased their palms ... like most automotive journalists, they rely on under the table greasing to promote a car through their stories. Sad, but very true.

I like Nissan's _Shift philosophy to "Build the damn car and they will come".

It's not a Lexus, BMW or Infiniti so they are going to hate it.

The majority of the bloggers don't own the 370, and are taking the original comments by the staff writer as 100% accurate. The few bloggers who do own the car and have differing opinions are small. I personally think the NHV issue is blown out of proportion. I have also noticed as my car gets more miles on it, things seem to be smoothing out. It is a sports car after all, not a high horsepower sedan.

When you think about it most of the mainstream automotive print/web media is pretty lousy. Most of the writers convey a holier-than-thou attitude and it's pretty obvious they won't be satisfied unless they're sitting behind the wheel of something fresh from Stuttgart or Maranello.

My 08 Honda LX had no engine noise. Some times i turned it off accidently becuase i thought it never started and didnt realize it was running.

My car makes noise, isnt it supposed to?

A silky smooth bmw that falls apart after warrenty is up or a rough sounding brute who wont go down?

If they don't like the engine noise they can just pull out the tampon and insert it in their ears.

Drive the car for yourself and don't worry about what auto journalists say. If clutch chatter, awkward clutch take up, engine noise and vibration bother you enough not to buy a car that goes low 13's in the 1/4 mile stock (12's with some mods) and handles as well as any car under a corvette's price tag then you're looking for something that comprimises performance for comfort/refinement or even worse an unreasonable notion that a 30k car should be as refined as a 60k car. It was built on the understanding that it can't be much more expensive than the previous 350 but has to perform better. It couldn't reduce weight considerably enough (95 pounds isn't bad) since it needed another 100 pounds of safety equipment so it needed to be combined with a power increase along with structural/suspension improvements. A turbo car is too expensive with that engine so enlarging and keeping it n/a was the only option. Period the end.

Drive an Xterra, then drive a 370Z. Your ears will be confused. Why does this sports car sound like its about to go off road? .
my previous car was a '05 nismo frontier (the same engine as the xterra). the 370z engine and the 4.0L V-6 are two totally different sounding vehicles!
