My wife said no!

Trading the wife is not an option as I wouldn't want another one. Nothing personal against the ladies but 2 times was enough for me. I have learned.

You may be right. I got the feeling that she didn't want me to have the car because I wanted the car. This was her idea. She didn't think it made since having the Pathfinder in the garage, not being driven, for $644 a month. So, when I took her up on her idea, she goes nuts and is dead set against it. I can't figure this one out.

You guys have got to stop posting pictures of red Z's...its like the one I drove and want. My wife is Spanish and there is no temper like their's and maybe no forgiveness. I could get the silent treatment for months out of this. Who knows. Some would say that was a blessing.

You have a point. Either way, I am upside down. The Pathfinder is depreciating at the same time. Kind of complicated. And you are right about talking payments versus price. I sent them a new offer of $500 and figured that lowers the price by about $2000 grand. It is a solid red car like your's.

You make an awful lot of sense to me. I don't drive the SUV because it makes no sense to haul it around at 14 mpg with jut me in it and it makes no sense to leave it in the garage for $644 a month.

She is my wife. I was married before but she ran off with someone else. I should have learned... Sorry I got your name wrong, I meant to type g9816. Please accept my apologies.

Default The Mazda

The Mazda might last another year without major repairs. I do seem to notice a lot of heat coming from under the mid-part of the car. The temp gauge is cool though and I am wondering if this is the transmission. Everything works great on it if you don't mind a busted drivers seat, broken drivers door lock, and a radio that doesn't work anymore (don't ask about the air conditioning).

I agree with selling the SUV and paying it off, even though you won't own it. You'll feel better, your credit will be better, and you will save a ton just based on your improved negotiating position.

That said, I got married a year ago, and while we have a joint savings account, we keep separate checking accounts for a reason. She knows that my money is my money. Since half the time it gets spent on her (dinners, rent, travel), she's okay with me spending it on me too. Still don't have kids though - that may be the difference .

Good luck either way. I actually feel like being frugal is worth something. Run the RX-7 into the ground (although driving one of them for the gas mileage is pretty funny - mine used to get about 16).

Well sir, there are 2 people you have to make happy in this life. You, because you are you and you need to be happy for you. The other person is, well, me... So give me all your money...No really, pay me for this......Yeah, you're not falling for it are you? Ok fine, there is only 1 person you have to make happy, and it sounds like you know what you want, go get it.

High interest bank account? LOL! Today's "high interest" rate bank accounts would get you maybe 2%.

After reading your comments about your wife, I'd say; you only live once, if your over 40 then you have probably lived more than half your life already, so when are you going to make the most of it and reward/enjoy yourself. Man life is too short, asl ong as you can financially manage it, have a steady income etc then go for it. Does your wife work or are you the only one earning bucks and she's telling you what to do?
