I saw a Nismo once. It was at the dealership when I bought my non-Nismo Z.

I totally get the SS, R/T, SHO, Nismo, etc. thing. If I liked the body style of the body style of the Nismo I probably would have gotten one. I totally understand why people would buy one and prefer them over the regular Z's, they are more rare and it's nice to drive something that you don't see at every stop light.

True, overall you don't see a lot of Z's on the road. Just a slightly different body style and a little more exclusivity to those who actually know the difference.

Similar to guitars which are another bad habit of mine. I love custom shop guitars, the build quality is amazing and they are sexy to me. Most people wouldn't know the difference between a squire and a custom shop fender though.
