I think your reasoning contradicts your question...it's obvious there's nothing you like about the Sport Package...save your $3000 and order a strippy and then add the stuff that you want...I'm sure after getting the the wheels/tires and top of the line LSD, you still won't spend $3000...so that's what you need to close...thread closed!

This thread is like someone saying:
I hate ice cream. It taste bad. I like pie more. Ice cream has too much calories. The only thing I like about ice cream is that it's cold. Should I get ice cream?

Miller Lite's "Great Taste...Less Filling" advertising campaign was ranked by Advertising Age magazine as the 8th best advertising campaign in history.

Hah!

why 17s. If you get non sportpackage I doubt you will feel difference from stock 18s with advansport tires to whatever your gonna run with 17s.

So I guess it just coming down to open diff vs vlsd.
Let me tell you they have different personalities. With an open diff you CANT really slide the rear around (you can but will be much harder than vlsd).
Im not saying you wont have fun with open diff but less fun. With open diff there will be Higher entry speed on a turn and lower exit speed. On a LSD lower entry and higher exit speed. With lsd you can start throttling it earlier after the turn than an open diff.
Pretty much open diff is for daily driving, cause when you track it you want more exit speed.

I dont understand why your gonna buy a Z and not willing to do a few HPDE events. Canyon Running your never gonna find out the potential of the car and the potential of your skills.

to conclude NON sport for serious tuners, and daily drivers
Sport package for Normal Z enthusiast that want few track days out of the year. Im not saying race. Its just better not to mess with anything stock if you dont have too.

Long post and I dont even have a Z yet. Haha, I know I was bored...

Sport package ride

I'll drive 10k+/year of a 15k total just going to work. My 350z had 18s - didn't find the ride too bad as everday commuter.

Looking for the opinion of someone who went from a 18" 350z to 370z Sport who does a lot of commuter miles - ride significantly worse with 370 19"s?

Any input appreciated.

I went from an '06 Z with 18s to the 370 sport package 19s, no real issues here. I think the fact Nissan is using 40 series front and 35 series rear tires, versus say 35 and 30, helps. I use mine as a daily driver and the roads here are not the best, living on the coast there is a good bit of settling. I would recommend the sport package. On the interstate it is just as smooth as the 18s were in my opinion.

When I saw there was another response, I thought to myself "how long does this thread need to keep going?"

well! the hell with then move these thread to the useless section...

I got the sport package on my car just for the limited slip, and it's terrible. I break traction on one tire during fast turns all the time. If I could do it again I'd get the normal package and install an aftermarket lsd.
