From my understanding all the autos come standard with rev matching as do most new generation autos. It's only new on the manual tranny's....in fact Nissan is the first to do it.

The function is exactly the same...to create a smooth transition when down paddle shifting. At least in a manual you can rev match manually(and still pull off a smooth downshift) without the system engaged, but in an auto it's not possible, which is why it's standard on most autos.....prevent's all the jerkiness that comes with the whole process.
