7 Speed Automatic Transmission: SynchroRev match vs Non-SynchroRev match
The Sport Package for the 7AT costs the same as the 6MT. It has everything the 6MT does, so what I really want to know is how the SynchroRev match in the 7AT helps it vs. a 7AT without it? Is there really a SynchroRev match system added to the 7AT tranny? Nissan doesn't say much about the SRM system in the automatic except that it has one. Has anyone driven the 7AT with SRM and without SRM?

The automatic doesn't have srm. It has dsm or whatever it's called. It rev matches on downshifts.

From my understanding all the autos come standard with rev matching as do most new generation autos. It's only new on the manual tranny's....in fact Nissan is the first to do it.
The function is exactly the same...to create a smooth transition when down paddle shifting. At least in a manual you can rev match manually(and still pull off a smooth downshift) without the system engaged, but in an auto it's not possible, which is why it's standard on most autos.....prevent's all the jerkiness that comes with the whole process. |

So all 7AT has DRM and the 6MT only has SRM with the Sport Package, then why is the Sport Package at the same cost for both trannies? |

Downshift Rev-Matching (DRM) is technology that began in the 5at G35 n trickled down into the Z maxima and altima models.
It was designed as a heal and toe simulator for auto transmissions and also throttle blip control to increase the speed of shifts in automatic transmissions. This innovative piece of tech software has modernized auto transmissions along with DSG and PDK. Now autos can move a car faster than a m/t tho autos are inherently 100lbs heavier. SRM is technology copied from drm to make manual transmissions more precise in its shift and makes the driver look way more precise than he is. As it stands new tech autos are seemingly making manuals obsolete in terms of acceleration and handling. SRM IS KEEPING MANUALS IN THE GAME AND ON THE CUTTING EDGE OF TECHNOLOGY. I guess that's the best way to explain it in laymans terms. ;) |

3,232 man base 3,278 man tour 3,269 auto base 3,314 auto tour But I am not only speaking on the Z. I'M SPEAKING ON THE AVERAGE RATIO OF WEIGHT DIFFERENCE. IT USUALLY RANGES 80 TO 120LBS. See this is what also makes the 7a/t tranny so great. Show me an A/T that is so close in weight to its manual brother. Another amazing feat by nissan. :) Might I add the auto has superior weight dist. 53/47. Vs 54/46 manual. ;) |
