I'm more interested in how it handles and HP is not a big concern (200HP or so ought to be plenty). Prefer a 2-door but a sporty looking 4-door would be acceptable (I realize I probably won't find anything that looks as good as the Z). Needs to be something I can get worked on locally (Ford/Linc/Merc, GM, Honda). No Nissans and since the local Nissan dealer is also the Chrysler dealer, Chrysler is low on the list (there is a good Chrysler service center about 25 miles away so they are not out, just not a first choice). I have budgeted $20-25K and don't mind getting a used car ('09-'12 ish) if it's in good shape. Something like Challenger/Mustang/Camaro are high on my list but very willing to look at less "sporty" looking cars if they handle well.

So, my question is: Does anybody have recommendations for a medium-priced car that handles anything close to the 370Z and I can get worked on in South Arkansas?

I've driven a base Mustang and a Camaro RS but both of those rolled quite a bit on hard turns. I've heard that the Camaro SS has a better suspension but haven't had a chance to drive one.
BTW, the new Camaro LS1 is outrageous. 580 freakin' HP in a bone-stock Camaro.
I really liked my former roommates BRZ. If I had not gotten into an SUV, I was going to dump my 370z for one. Amazing connection with the road in that car. It's like talking to a friend in person vs. watching a laggy CNN field reporter correspondence with the 370z.

Huh? I test drove one and I felt the car handled good, but not as good as people say...........I will give BRZ the cute factor, as thats what my wife thinks about them.

I would go back to a 370z way before I even considered a BRZ/FRS

Interesting. I loved it and instantly wanted to replace my Z with one. I drove a BRZ though and hear they feel different than an frs.

If I was to move to a new car from the Z at this moment, it'd only be for the new vette (unless yuur budget is getting close to 100k or up)

My choices are limited to:
Chrysler/Dodge
Chevrolet/Buick/Cadillac/Oldsmobile
Ford/Lincoln(/Merc?)
Toyota
Edit: and Honda
choices are limited to: (My responses are in bold)
Chrysler/Dodge -- Not much in this price range at Chrysler/Dodge. High depreciation here also.
Chevrolet/Buick/Cadillac/Oldsmobile - Oldsmobile is long gone. I guess a V6 Camaro would fit your budget.
Ford/Lincoln(/Merc?) Mercury is also gone. V6 mustang I think you would like! Quite fast.
Toyota - My grandparents shop for Toyota's. Not much here unless you like corolla/Camry. Although the V6 Camry sport is often overlooked. runs a 14.2 stock. But out of your price range.
Edit: and Honda Accord Sport 6M, pretty sharp, 0-60 in 6.6 with the 4-banger. $25k new. Civic SI also.

Good luck. Not sure what exact kind of car you want, but if you want a coupe, I'd go V6 Mustang....or Civic Si..... if you want a sporty sedan the Accord Sport is quite nice and will keep its value all day long.

Fiesta ST... It's amazing! Definitely need to drive one, plus they put down pretty good numbers for such a small, light car.

True, but why does the Fiesta ST and Focus ST look like it was designed by the kid who used to own a civic with a street fighter body kit, that grew up and went to design school, got hired by Ford and still has a hard on for 1990's body kits?

Just sayin-

Civic Si, Focus ST, FR-S and Mazdaspeed 3 would be my choices.

Some Toyota dealerships also sell Scion's FYI, see if your local dealer does the same.

If you go camaro SS? GO 1LE PLEASE! It's that good.
Cadillac ATS performance 2.0T is shockingly good.
Reviews on the BMW 2 series is very convincing but then, the no feedback gripe bugs me. But I guess that's our future with full electronic steering.

If you're going on a lower budget?

The underrated Hyundai gencoupe 2.0t r-spec
The overrated brz/frs
(not saying either car is better. But reviews basically show bias within these two.)
Mustang or camaro v6. I think you're better with the 2 above if not going v8. But not bad options.

If going fwd?

Focus ST
Mazdaspeed3

And if you're willing to look at civic and fiesta st???
Then I'm going to throwv in a sleeper of a good car. My friend purchased a 2014 Kia koup 1.6t. That car is pretty damn hot for what u get in that price range.

Forgot about the Genesis Coupe. Lots of potential in the 2013+ 2.0T models. If you can swing a 2013+ 3.8V6 model it will perform close to your 370Z for the most part.
