I had a 280ZX in highschool, which I still own 15 years later. It gave me a lot of respect from the Honda and import guys but never did much else for me (I didn't really get a sports car for the "status" reason anyways).

Now... once I got a little bit older, the car got a little bit older and was over 20 years old, it certainly had an impact on some of the ladies going out to the bars at night.

I pulled up to a stoplight and some girl walking down the street on a Friday night, probably not realizing my window was open asked her friend if "that car" was a Porsche or a Jaguar... she hesitated for a second and said "definitely a porsche"

Also of note, Cougars have amazing flashbacks when you blast Duran Duran in the car or the soundtrack to Miami Vice with the T-Tops off, but now I am well off topic of talking about the car in highschool.
