The Z doesnt have a metal flap? That is strange cause most of my Hondas have a little metal flap from what I recall.

No, they don't. If you search you will find a few threads where people have asked this same thing. Even one where a guy said his (non-existent) flap fell in the gas tank! :rofl2:

So it sounds like it is impossible for the flap to actually fall through into your tank, correct? If not, that would be kind of scary.

thats really scary if it falls in....

Hey I just purchased this cap and yeah..... sux! Can fill my tank without having to hold onto it. It pops cntinuously if I just let it go. Unless I'm filling on a pump without that black hood.
Anyone else have to same issues? Any way to fix this?

flashburn 03-27-2011 03:27 PM

Mine is still working good. Occasionally I have to re-tighten in because it throws an error code, but it only happens about once every six months.

simota1 03-27-2011 05:45 PM

mine broke a couple months ago.... stupid cap lol

kdo2milger 03-27-2011 06:05 PM

ya its a pos!

it lasted me a whopping few months and the stupid spring lid kept popping off!!!

and ya i thought it was going to fall straight down into the tank :O

i called "stant" and they pretty much blew me off, said i needed to return it to the place of purchase to have it replaced!!!

screw stant until they fix the jacked up pos of a gas cap...

i tried to help them by telling them it was great for the first few months, then slowly started to self destruct, but they weren't interested in my feedback as a "customer" so screw em!!!

i put the oem back on and haven't looked back...

maybe i should delete this thread lol

That's a shame. Are there any other caps like this from a different manufacturer? I'd probably just buy the same one if mine starts acting up. Can't look back now! :rofl2:

I've had mine for over a year and no problems at all.

simota1 03-28-2011 09:09 AM

maybe stant has some qc issues.... cuz some peoples own breaks fast and others last really long? technically i only had mine for 3000k miles.... i always pumped my own gas and was always careful when i inserted the gas nosil but it still broke :(

flashburn 03-28-2011 09:35 AM

I've used mine for something like 20K miles, so yeah, I dunno. I'm not careful at all, just "wam, bam, thank you ma'am".

I was thinking about doing this, but sounds like there are some quality issues with the product and/or effects on CEL?

Any other products similar to, but better?

The tether design on our stock gas cap is bad. Where is the cap supposed to hang?!?!?!? So I have to hold it the whole time with my right hand as I fill up with the left.... terrible.
