It would be touching the inside of the door, not the outside (visible side) of the door, no?

Seems like most people didn't like the gas cap hanging down and touching the fender, so the hook would work in that case.

About 3 weeks and 3 fill-ups on both my Z and the wife's Xterra with the InStant Fill gas cap with no CEL's or any other issues - just (slightly) easier fill-ups.

On the Z a tiny bit of water will pool on the flap door during rain or a car wash (due to the angle the cap sits at), but not enough to worry about at all IMO.

My concern would be the fuel vapors eating away the paint if the cap somehow malfunctions. Otherwise nice writeup

:tiphat: thank you jw...

guess i could use this opportunity to do a follow up:

well have had it now for a few months and havent had a cel yet...

i have noticed that if i use a high pressure touchless car wash that i will get a little build up in the opening...nothing drastic, and nothing a paper towel wont take care of...

all in all im glad i made the switch and really dont see why all vehicles dont have this same type of setup...

Liked it to

I was it on someones picture gallery and bought one. Works great! and the price I thought was very reasonable.

I also purchased this cap and have had no issues. I like not having to touch the cap and also keeps it from rubbing against the fender which happened even when hanging it on the door.

Huh? That is the strangest concern I've ever heard....

Does gasoline eat away paint? (the answer is NO).......

My Stant's been working just fine for months now..

Guess I need to rescind that.....The door flap inside the cap fell off a few weeks ago. Maybe only 5-6 uses too....:shakes head:

does anyone have a photo of this door flap? i dont know if i have ever seen it on my Z...i'm assuming its just a metal flap that swings open when you insert the fuel pump, but i have never noticed it on my Z.

The Z has no flap. The Stant cap does though.

Thanks Mod!

Hrm, I think I may get one of these Stant caps, mighty tempting....

The pins on the flap popped out of the pivot point on the Cap. It just dropped down to where the metal necks down for the filler. I didn't even notice it at first, but the nozzle wouldn't go in all the way. Unscrewed the Stant Cap and fished it out. Looks intact so I may try to fix it...

So it sounds like it is impossible for the flap to actually fall through into your tank, correct? If not, that would be kind of scary.
