I mentioned the Toyota FT-1 concept from the Detroit auto show in an earlier post. If that car comes to market in the 40-50k range it will sell. There is no reason why nissan could not move the Z to that price point with the right equipment. Look how many c7 corvettes are selling at 65k. Nissan should not be outdone by Toyota.

Unless the Toyota car is toned down a ton, it will not be anywhere close to 40-50k. With the rumor of power in the 500 range and how light it is, that car is a GT-R fighter first, so think 90k or more.

I won't disagree that FT-1 may sell at corvette prices but I don't see Toyota being able to sell a 90k car.

Put just a little bit more into the Z and OMG.

Here is what I think will happen. They will offer a base Z with a 2.5 NA. Sell for 28-32, then offer a sport package touring blah blah for a few K more. She will be lighter and quicker but really no horses maybe 220. Then they will offer a NISMO 2.5 TT at 37-45K. they will make it with enough changes that it will make it silly to buy a base or a touring if you want a performance Z. The base and touring will be so toned down they won't be fun. Yeah they will look good, but they will probably be tame enough for teens.

Cannot do that though, the IDx will be to close of a competitor at that power range of 220 for the base Z. Depending on which exact engine they use (some are saying the Juke motor or variant), that will be easily 180-200HP for the small IDx.

For the Z to stay above it they will need to keep it in the 3xx range with either lighter car or throw on a turbo for efficiency.
