The good ones come with sacraficial anodes made of Zinc. Those zinc strips will rust faster than any other metal on the car. The key to buying those products is to barter on the price. There is alot of markup. Should be able to buy Paint & Fabric & Rust protection for about $499. Most places will try to start at $1299.
Dealerships are in business to make money some how! so when your going to one you should have a good idea what you want and what your going to pay. all the accessory stuff is there to say yes or no to if your committed then no to what they offer is all you need to remember..

First off spend $20 instead and get Meguire's NXT or Turtle Wax ICE synthetic wax. Zaino is great but IMHO it's not good value for your money - it washes off too. Unless you are detailing bi weekly and if your car isn't a garage queen use a synthetic wax. It last longer and gives excellent protection. Teflon coating is all but a gimic. It will wash off just as quickly as any other wax. It doesn't penetrate your clear coat - it sticks to the surface and you know how sticky teflon is.... all for $400 - rip off.

Secondly rusting is a chemical reaction which does include the transfer of electrons. The zinc strips are often used on ships to prevent corosion of other metal parts on the ship as the zinc has a higher electrical potential and will corrode instead of the ship. Its know as a sacrificial anode. Works on ships but I haven't heard of anyone doing it on a vehicle. Not sure if the battery one is going to do the trick....
every thing i read and i could be wrong but Meguire's NXT and Turtle Wax ICE wash off in a week and probably melt off my black car first day in the sun.

As for zaino, the stuff lasts quite a while. I allways use Z6 spray after a wash, and my stuffs marble smooth for months. It also doesnt melt off my black car.

so for value over money i think your arguement is flawed. 3 months vs 1 week you figure out which one is more work.

You use just Z6? I washed my car the other day, and I'm nervous about putting anything on it, because it's NOT Zaino...the detailers I used don't like Zaino, so it's got whatever stuff they used (I think Griot's?)

Last thing I want is for it to puddle up / get spotty....I'll probably strip the wax off this fall, and start building layers up over the winter, when I won't be driving it and can take my time.

no, i put on a few layers of z2 then maintain it with z6. I have not put on z2 in maybe 2 months.
Right now i wash once a week, after i wash i use z6 and my car is still marble smooth.

Since school and work take up all my time i have not been able to keep up with a once a month z2 session like i wanted to.

My point was zaino doesnt wash off any where NEAR as fast as the Meguire's NXT and Turtle Wax ICE synthetic wax, based on my readings and reviews of it. I was going to switch becuase they seemed easyier accessable but after reading about them its a waste of time.

I'm new to Zaino and I've used it as directed for the past two months. Great results and it's not that expensive. I couldn't believe it only took an ounce of Z2 to do my Z. Take a look at my pics in 'My Album' http://www.the370z.com/members/idzrv...otia-370z.html.
