But srsly... Driving down the road at the dealership doesn't count for squat. In test after test the ZL1 is shown to be amazing at many things ...other than a straight line. It has an amazing engine and amazing suspension system, both rooted in the ZR1 and CTS-V. It beat out the BOSS LS in tests, which beat out the E90 BMW M3. This all coming from a mustang guy... So your either bias and attempting to make yourself feel better bout ur purchase... or you really didn't test drive it to any significant extent. give credit where credit is due

But I have a truck and a Tahoe and my wife has a Mercedes. Back in the day when I had my EVO 8 I swore that my next sports car wouldn't be my only car to drive. So I only drive it when its nice, plus I have kids and all the activities that goes with that.

![]() I upgraded to a Z06 in May and it is day and night different. The Z was quick but the vette is on another planet. The ZL1s are really badass and they actually handle really well since they have the mag ride suspension, but the downside is the crappy A pilar that cuts out needed visibility when turning and the overall size of the car for me is too large. The weight doesn't matter as much when you have 580hp and huge brakes, but for general (non-performance) maneuvering and parking it plays a big part. If you're looking for more power and torque, you have to ditch the Z. Even with Twin Turbos, you're not going to make as much RELIABLE power as you can with the V8. And with the V8 there won't be any gauges to monitor or headaches. Just stomp the gas and go. The Z is a great platform for 300-400hp. More than that is stretching it.

I would first wonder what you do with the Z/Camaro. Is this Camaro also going to get about 900 miles per year? Do you track it? If not, you're not going to be able to put down all the Camaro power on the roads very often, ya know?
If you drive it only on nice weekends and never all that hard, I'd really wonder if sticking to something exotic/different like the Z wouldn't be a better call. But that's me and not you; we certainly derive our happiness in different ways! Either way, damn nice cars!

If you said the Corvette, even a ZL1 C6, I would have said yes.
But like many others, some features in the Camaro don't thrill me, also the fact that you said it will only get weekend action, if that. Not sure its worth the trouble of selling the Z and then getting the Camaro. Sure its nice to know its in the Garage but still. I'm worried about the same thing as we are working on number 2. its tricky enough to get Z time already, will be worse with 2 kids. Heck, just to drive my Z, I often drop my kid to daycare in my Forester, then hurry back home to switch cars to the Z which means I am paying downtown parking. Its a crazy sacrifice for all this Z love lol.

IMO I would stick with the Z strictly for the total fun factor and the interior. I tried a ZL1 during fun runs at an auto-x event and it was a pig to throw around. The Z offers fun in all categories, while the ZL1 is straight line power only for the most part. Plus, the interior is to open and wide for me. I like the feel of a more enclosed tight cockpit.
