Why? I think Chuck summed it up..."Exactly. That's why the rev limiter is there- to prevent damage. Do you think Nissan would sell and warranty a car that was able to be damaged by frequent trips to the redline?
"

Errr, I'm sure the people that have had fuel starve said the same thing.

Just remember "can" doesn't always mean you "should".

So what exactly do you think happens when you redline the car more often? Why do you think the factory put the rev limiter in? Why do you think they put it at 7500rpm if the car couldn't handle it? I'm not saying go out and keep the car bouncing off fuel cut your entire daily commute, but the idea that the car will damage itself at redline is asinine. It's right up there with the mind control chemicals in the airplane contrails and vaccines giving you autism.

Haha, I'm with you.(Shiiiiii once I get a tune I'll be doing some 8k shifts)

But people that think they can redline stoplight to stoplight on a daily basis without any consequence at some point it's going to catch up with them.

And you will then find out why the rev limiter is set at 7500. Don't raise it. The internals of the oil pump will self destruct and your motor will make a very expensive noise.

That was a snarky post mainly aimed to mock the poster's posited sentiment that people who willingly & freely redline their cars (often) were likely to treat women in a predatory fashion. Also, the notion that one should use 6th gear to accelerate from 60 - 130...

Yeah, that's pretty funny.

Putting a lot of load on the motor at too low rpms is far worse than hitting the factory rev limiter.

6th... worthless gear. I literally never use it. Hell, I keep it in 4th a lot of the time just to avoid speeding too egregiously.

It's even worse on my bike. 3rd is cruising along at 70mph, 4th-6th will get you arrested.

I hate lugging engines along at low rpm which is probably why my fuel economy is such shite.
