Help guys....!! god bless you !!

last night was pretty dark and i was talking on the phone didnt see there was a median separate the right left lane ,i just ran over it to the wrong way with my nismo and had to back up my car . so i scratch it twice ..........lucky thing is the bumper is fine ,no much damage ,but the exhaust sounds weird not as clearly as before and the clutch pedal not as hard as before too ,feel nothing when i step on it ,but it still works fine, if i take it to the dealership ask them to replace the whole exhaust and clutch pedal will they do that for free ?? if there is more problem found under the car will they fix it all for free or i have to be fully responsible for that !!! someone please tell me what to do ,,because i cant not speak english very well !! thanks guys !!!!!:tiphat:

JohnYu 10-19-2013 11:02 PM

They will not fix your car for free when you wreck it. Collisions are not covered under warranty. Please be careful out there.

122554 10-19-2013 11:14 PM

And get off the phone!

MadChemist 10-19-2013 11:15 PM

Agree with the Felix. If you jacked up your car, use your insurance. Don't have insurance, leave this forum now.

JohnYu 10-19-2013 11:43 PM

Another alternative: pay for the repairs out of pocket.

Get numbers of cost of repair. Much if not all will be within the deductible in your coverage. Therefore, its possibly best to just pay it out of your own pocket. Get the estimate and see. Nissan warranty has nothing to do with this. And please keep the stupid phone in the glove box until you've parked. You could be driving near me next time and I don't want to find my perfect red Z next to yours in the repair shop.

Interesting question is how much less are most drivers distracted using blue tooth as opposed to hand held cell phone. I find it almost as bad and use neither until I park. Maybe just me, maybe age, don't know. Just seems to me that all phone conversations while driving are very distracting---only a matter of degree.

$260 a month? ouch.

For that amount, you can buy 3 weeks of our new xxxxxx xxxx xxxx ;)

jaedub 10-20-2013 02:29 PM

Was the median clearly visible? Because if the median is not clearly visible, state can hold liable for your damage. My friend hit a median that was the same color as the street pavement due to construction. He was covered by the state.

Current research shows hands-free or in your hand are equally distracting. Need to talk get off the road and stop. Simple.

You hit the median because you were distracted. Nobody but you needs to pay for it. It's your responsibility. Either claim it on your insurance or open up your wallet.

Basically, you sue the city for their negligence of hazardous road condition. But if the median is clearly defined....well......you're screwed

Good luck with your repair

Except he'd lose. He admittedly hit the median because he was on the phone. And why should the city and states taxpayers be on the hook for his mistake? He broke it, he bought it.

Because it's 2013. It's always somebody else's fault but your own

just mentioning that you were talking on the phone while driving and then hitting something is pretty much already automatic that it's your fault. I understand why your insurance is $260 per month

$260 gets me over 4 months of insurance coverage. I pay $60/month for full, extensive coverage from Nationwide. (I guess there's some advantage to being over 60)!

I pay $150/month for FULL coverage... With renter's insurance... And I totaled a car a year ago... Statefarm FTW?

ZeroZeta 10-20-2013 10:18 PM

Another vote for paying out of pocket.

No point raising your premium trying to get insurance to pay. Also you mentioned the bumper was basically fine, but exhaust and clutch, might not be. Pay a reputable mechanic to inspect any damage if you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself.

Also people have already chimed about the hazard of being on the phone. Please take note.

Elan 10-21-2013 12:39 AM

So you drive a 7AT Nismo?????

brucelidat 10-22-2013 01:23 AM

I can't believe this is a real thread and question...

If you can't accept the responsibility for damaging your car because you were distracted talking on the phone, you shouldn't be driving. Luckily you didn't hit a pedestrian or cyclist.

Man up and just pay to get your car fixed then move on.

Also, realize how lucky you are that this wasn't more serious. This was a very expensive lesson - been there, done that a few times (as we all have) - learn from it.

Full coverage on my car and house runs me just under $200/month. That's with a $20K wreck a few years ago.

I've been with State Farm for ~40 years and been very pleased with their service. Three wrecks over the years and several claims for storm damage to the house with zero problems.

Chuck33079 10-22-2013 07:28 AM

Just over $200/mo here with home and auto. That's not too bad for those of us in the Uninsured Motorist Belt. Clean record, no wrecks. Had a homeowner's claim a few years back for fire, but that surprisingly didn't effect rates. Luckily I haven't hit any medians while talking on the phone, or it would be a different story. :rofl2:

Does my warranty cover the damages from hopping the median?:rofl2: That still kills me.

edub370 10-22-2013 07:56 AM

just curious why you would think Nissan or the state would cover it?

... are we getting trolled....?
