I've been with State Farm for ~40 years and been very pleased with their service. Three wrecks over the years and several claims for storm damage to the house with zero problems.

Same here. I was living in the New Orleans area (northshore - no flooding, just wind damage) when Katrina hit. State Farm came through like a champ for everyone I know. Allstate was another story.

When you get to the point that you have a home to insure, getting a package deal from State Farm is the way to go. You get what you pay for, at least that has been my experience.

I've made a few minor claims over the years and have never had a rate increase due to that.

Shockingly, my rates didn't go up a cent after a house fire that caused them to pay out $75k or so.

The OP should have really sat back and thought about his stupid question before typing!

1. Go to a mechanic and get them to inspect it to see what is wrong. Don't go in asking them to "replace the whole exhaust and clutch pedal," before you even know there's a problem. Get an estimate. I'd even ask the mechanic or service manager/advisor the question about whether you should pay it out-of-pocket or report it to insurance. Have a good idea that you want insurance to cover it before calling your insurance. Just calling them and asking could result in them opening a case on it and having that affect your standing with them.

2. You probably don't want to volunteer the information that you were on the phone when this happened. You'll just want to leave that out unless you're talking to your attorney or you're in court. And I'm not saying you should deny that you were on the phone, but rather just avoid the topic. If someone is curious enough and/or this goes to court, they'll just pull your phone records and catch you lying, and then you're in a world of hurt. And if you tell the mechanics or your friends that you were on the phone, and they wind up interviewed as well, they're not likely to lie for you.

3. Take responsibility for your mistake. It is rare that a single car accident is going to be truly blamed on someone else. You do have lights, eyes, and a car you can slow down while you turn...

4. Get off the damn phone when you're driving.

Not stupid, just naive. Hopefully, something is learned from it.

I've done enough stupid things in 55 years that it's finally begun to sink in with me.

I think it's more the fact that not one of us offered him helpful advice on how he could get a new exhaust and clutch pedal for free under warranty. :rofl2:

Too indirect. You didn't call anyone out by name or quote their post.

Mother of God.

Out of respect for the brain cells I have left after reading that, I'll only touch on one point- owning three cars in the last year isn't something to brag about, it's financial stupidity.

I really didn't want to respond to this post but here goes.

To the OP.

You need to learn what we old guys call patience and understanding.

Perhaps it is a little "jealousy" as you put it that are causing some to harass you, but maybe its "wisdom."
(trust what you are bout to read)
Before you go on a tantrum and type things you really shouldn't, take some deep breaths get away from your PC/tablet, or what ever your typing on and reflect on what you want to say. Think about how it will be taken by others.
I know this from experience.
Listen I did some stupid stuff too when I was your age. We all do, it's how we gain wisdom, so take the shots you are getting and just grin.
Think about it too all you old men, we were lucky we didn't have cell phones 25 years ago to distract us. So guys don't be so hard on him.

Peace out Kid, you will learn and you will grow, just know next time it could be a person and not a curb, take the wisdom you are gaining. You will get your chance to take a shot at a kid in about 20 years.

All I will say.

JohnYu 10-23-2013 12:53 PM

I don't meant to brag about I owed three cars in past years ,and I never did till today cause I can't stand people blow up my thread with personal point and usedless craps

JohnYu 10-23-2013 12:56 PM

edub370 10-23-2013 03:11 PM

plenty of twenty somethings on this forum with 370's that are paid off man. not super uncommon

hopefully u get it all taken care of and can enjoy your car again soon. gonna have to turn it into insurance tho. unfortunately nissan & the state wont cover it

gbrettin 10-23-2013 04:17 PM

Jesus christ... I can't believe I read this thread...

Ubetit 10-23-2013 04:41 PM

ZBro16 10-23-2013 04:49 PM

Well. My advice was going to be to hit the median from the other side to fix your car. That way it balances everything out.

Actually just hit any median. But hit it harder than last time. Really hard. Make sure no one is around first.

I am a fairly young Z owner and I am still disgusted with this thread and the attitude of the OP. Gives all of us, young sports car owners, a bad name.

I pay $360 a month :ughdance: - worth even penny in my eyes. Have to pay to play :tiphat:
