M6 Skipping gears

I find this thread so odd why would you skip gears? Its numbered for a reason. How hard is it to go in sequence?

Very difficult... I can only count to 3 so I am really lost. Is it 6th, 4th, then 5th?

I am changing my driving habits and slowing down. Shifting 6X's to go from 0..60 is a pain and wear on the clutch and tranny.

Think about it...you skip gears all the time when you slow to turn corners. It doesn't hurt the car.

just make sure to hold the clutch in a little longer to let the revs drop more, or you put more wear on the clutch (and it doesn't feel as smooth).

Or let the drops all the way to idle, then blip to rev match before engaging.

7000 rpm in 2nd @ 60mph and shifting to 6th while at like 6000rpm and going 60 mph and you are going to have a bad time.

SRM will take care of all of that for you. It's great for being lazy.

It happens quite often actually. Say you are cruising at 35 mph on 5th gear and you are just rolling to slow down. Personally I would not shift sequentially but just skip to 2nd/3rd. Another example is when you want to accelerate hard out from higher gears, I would go from 6th to 2nd/3rd and step on the gas.
