You have to develop a feel to the "detect" sensitivity the computer has to the car being shifted. Sometime I have found myself putting just a very slight pressure on the shifter in anticipation of my wanting to shift as I just start to push the cluth in. I immediate start to hear the SyncRev start to kick in and start a rev-cycle. I then for whatever reason let up on the pressure of the shifter and then reapply pressure again to commit to an actual shift (on my part) which causes the SyncRev to reset and start its rev-matching up for a second time. After a while you will get used to the sensitivity and this double rev will go away as you are now "sensitized" to the SynCRev's triggering and timing of its rev program cycle.

As for turning "off" the SyncRev button, when you turn it "off" you have to hold the button down until you actually see the Syncrev "S" go off on the dashboard. This usually takes 3 to 5 seconds. It doesn't go off with just a quick push of the button like when it turns "on".
