Had the 300 with T Tops, loved it, had the 350 coupe, loved it. Decided it was time to upgrade and test drove a new Nismo and it was great. Negotiated a sale price of 40500 on a 2013 and took the night to think it over. Another dealer had the vert with sport package so I said what the hell. Got there as the dealer opened so I would still have time to get the Nismo and drive it home as I was fairly sure the Nismo was it.

Long story short, it was a 78 degree sunny spring day, dealer put the top down and said jump in and take a drive. Damn thing ended up costing 2K more and since it was a new 2012 I could not get the 0 % finance, but the test drive was so great, the power just right and the trade for my 2008 was 1.5K more then the dealer that had the Nismo. Been driving it ever since and the top is seldom up. Elan is right, I'm an old guy, but not too old to get the MT and put a CBE and CAI on. Did the fog light thing, plastic dipped the diffuser and put 20mm spacers on all 4 corners, and that was during the first month I owned it.

Now I'm thinking about the Amuse rear end, I guess it just does not matter how old you are...a toy is a toy.

Over the past 6 months I have some great conversations with people next to me at the lights, so don't get the vert if you are an introvert - everyone want to chat when the top is down ;-)

The great thing I have found over the years with the Z is that no matter if it is a base model, Nismo, or Touring Sport the Z is just an excellent choice at the price.

Best of luck whichever way you go, but going with any Z means never having to say your sorry.

If attention has anything to do with your decision the Nismo turns heads everyday. When I drive by roadsters (although I think they are very nice) the body styling doesn't wow me as much as the Nismo. The Nismo is bumpy but I DD my car 50 miles a day to/from work and I love every minute of it.

I was at Skyline Tint near Seattle and saw a really nice roadster with the amuse kit. Had Cali plates on it. Besides the orange plastic dipped wheels(which were waiting to be removed), the only thing that was out of place was the 350z chrome rear license plate frame.

I think if you're debating between the roadster and a NISMO model, you should get the roadster.

The way I see it: roadster offers a specific flavor of motoring enjoyment while the NISMO is more performance (and a different look). If the most performance available stock were important to you, you wouldn't be considering the roadster.

If I were looking for a roadster, I would look at cars that were engineered to have no roof...

^^ Just little caution... Nismo conversion is pricey and can be a pain especially for the front bumper. Here is a good thread for you to look up so you will have a rough idea what you will need and how much it will cost. On the other hand, Amuse conversion is much more common and cheaper too. Just do some researches before you pull the trigger.

Nismo Body Kit Conversion w/ Nismo CF High Wing

I like this, other than the wheels, fender trim and JDM tails. And the wing just looks way too big on the vert. Other than that, it looks great.

People always shock me when it comes to the convertible dilemma. You are either a convertible/roadster person or you aren't. My top is ALWAYS down, even this morning in 42 degree weather. If the weather is bad I drive my Accord. It was always roadster for me, I only test drove the coupe because no one around had a convertible to drive. I hated the coupe. If the coupe was the only version produced, I wouldn't own a Z.

Even my 16 year old looks good in my roadster.

Why would that be a problem? Isn't the back portion of the trunk the same shape as the back portion of the hatch?
