Speaking of resale, id be worried about owning a Mitsu right about now, rumor is they may go tits up w/i a year.

This thread makes me want to jump out my window.

I can see it spooking some buyers but I really don't see it being that much of a problem. I don't know, I just like GM products. I've always had good luck with them. I used to be a DSM guy too...not so much in the luck dept. there.

I've seen plenty of G8 owners claim 12.5 factory freaks too. Like you said, MotorTrend is the bible and those are the numbers I'm going by for all three of these cars. Right now the G8 wins in everything (even price thanks to the summer close out) except looks. That's where the 370 wins by far.

Ok ok ok well I love the 370 and
i would never bash that car, but I do drive a EVO X so i'm obligated to defend my ride.

Before you go any further looks are subjective, real hp and track performance is not. I said this before and i would say it again "there is only a few cars that can match the potential of an evo mod for mod and that is a proven fact"

EXHIBIT A: Here is the man itself Ryan Gates he's been tracking his evo x for a while now with 500 AWHP on STOCK MOTOR, no cam no updraged internals just external bolts ons with no hiccups and breaking track records. Just imagine the power he would get with upgraded internals. Here is the thread and video of his review with his evo x so far

Gates311: Evo X Reliability - evolutionm.net

EXHIBIT B: Let the video talks for itself a legal street car
YouTube - Chris AMS Evo

I think this Car is hitting 900 awhp right now correct me if i'm wrong

EXHIBIT C: This video shows you the potential of an EVO on the track, you top gear fans have probably seen this already

YouTube - Top Gear: Evo vs Lambo

EXHIBIT D: Here is the link to GST motorsports tunes, as you can see those EVOX are already breaking the 300 awhp with a DROP IN FILTER

Evo 10 - Gst Motorsports Tunes - Evo Empire Forum

EXHIBIT E: Here is the AMS EVO X TIME ATTACK car setting the AWHP record for EVO X (Reminder the EVOX has only been out for a lil over 2 years thats including the engine 4B11.)

YouTube - AMS / NOS Energy Drink TA EVO X sets a new HP record!

This is the in car video, if i remember correctly this car is also breaking track records for it's racing class.

YouTube - AMS / NOS Energy Drink Time Attack EVO X - in car

Now like i said i would never bash the 370 or 350 and you could probably find a 350 out there with TT and has like 1000 rhp or a 370 that can outrun a evo on the track or find other videos of a 370 beating a evo. But you can't deny the potential of Evo's. It's a proven fact that you have to spend a lot of money on a 370 to keep up with Evo with 3k dropped on the engine.

For the people that say they buy the 370 bec it's a true sports car let me tell you this what is a true sports car? Is it a car with two seats and two doors, a car with four doors and awd. The answer is none any car that can go on a track really really fast and kick exotic cars *** that to me is a true essence/heart of a sports car. Also i've seen just as much retarded 350 drivers as any cars out there so just because you met some dumb evo drivers doesn't meet they are all like that.

I love both cars but it kinda baffles me people bash the evo like this, remember LOOKS ARE SUBJECTIVE BUT TRUE HP AND TRACK PERFORMANCE IS NOT.

Someone mentioned FQ-400... isn't FQ-400 more of a GT-R price territory.

shabarivas 08-12-2009 03:36 PM

I used to have an X - I have met and spoken with just as many sane enthusiasts from the Evo community as I have from the Z/G ones... There will be idiots who own both - and yes there are plenty of silly Z owners and evo owners alike..

Price doesn't matter. It's a production Evo.

EDIT: By production, I mean stock.

Red370 08-12-2009 03:53 PM

personally i prefer the STI, much better car, and it will hold its resale after a year. Ooh that oughta strike a nerve!:bowrofl:

Ryan@Forged 08-12-2009 03:59 PM

I have plenty of Z's who try to race me all the time. I'm usually just trying to get home from work. Just the same, the Evo guys do it as well. I just don't think it's a fair statement to say Evo drivers behave differently as a whole community. I deal with both communities on a daily basis and find both drivers about the same age range and maturity range.

Well, I'll throw in my .02 ...

I have owned a an EVO VIII RS that started out stock and ended up with full turboback exhaust, cams, intake alky injection and standalone... enjoyed the car, but it was like a throwback with hand crank windows and no sound deadening....

Next was the EVO IX MR that I swore would stay stock.... so... three weeks later started with an exhaust, then full exhaust, then intake cam.... THEN.... FP Green turbo, injectors, FMIC and so on.... THAT car was a blast!! Then it got to be too much....

Went two years trying to get it all out of my system. Went to a Nissan Xterra and then a Scion xB... Two weeks ago I couldn't take it anymore and got a Brilliant Silver Touring 6MT and got the windows tinted... Just got off the phone with Tony at Fast Intentions to get some info on the CBE that they have... I'm trying really hard to NOT do anything to this car, but I think I'm fighting a losing battle.

I honestly can say that I don't think I'll drive anything as quick as my EVO IX was. The acceleration was brutal, the steering telepathic AND it had a backseat and a trunk....

The 370 is SUCH a good looking car though that it makes up for the performance differences 95% of the time. I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss the abililty to outperform cars that cost more than double what I had in the Evo... I'm 47 years old and I guess it's time to grow up.... maybe just a little....

They are both great cars with different demographics and application specialties. I say enjoy whichever one you are lucky enough to drive.

Peace,

Tony

OOOHHHHH SNNNNAAAAAPPP:wtf2:P

Of course you will be eating the Evo's dust - as you put him down a lap ;P

Seriously this is what I don't get. Looks. I could build a Hyundia Pony that would eat an EVO for dinner and cost less. For that matter you could put wheels on a rock with an engine and make a faster car for less money but who cares - it still looks like crap!

There is a guy in town who built a 700HP 350Z. He says it was fun to build but it wasn't any fun to drive any more. HP isn't king....

SnakeBitten 08-12-2009 04:21 PM

I didnt read anyone saying this but stock to stock the 370 Z outperforms the EVO X in the straights and on track. Now modded thats the EVO's game to win in terms of performance per dollar ratio. Z just cant compete with that until Nissan decides to give it a factory turbo motor.

Also doesnt the Z have the advantage of runing higher hp with pump gas due to bigger displacement? Small advantage I know:icon23::icon17: I love both these cars so I wont put down either. Looks are subjective but I like the 370z better although I ran a guy with a white X and with his tasteful mods I couldnt keep my eyes off of it. Performance-wise, modded, my wallet would prefer the EVO for ease of modding to exotic beating levels. Z can do just about everything the EVO can do mod for mod but the Z will cost you much more for similar performance.

I just dont see how either side could disrespect the other. Both cars are at the top of the food chain in there class, both stock and modded. Id be happy with either car, though if I did get a X Id suffer from extreme butt envy whenever I saw a 370z from the rear. I love that big, wide buttocks.:eekdance:

The STi is a better car how (besides some of the interior)?

And lol@resale value... you DO realize that the Evo's KBB is HIGHER than the STi's, right ('06, 45k miles, excellent)? Not by much ($1k), but still worth more.

Where do you people get your information from?
