Z Broke Down :(

Definitely not panicing, but I think we should spread the word to try and save people some trouble. I'm sure we have members that never think to check their oil levels. Heck, based on my old cars I would only check the oil once a month if that because I really didn't need to. Thanks to these threads, though, I know it's something I need to keep a closer eye on with this car.

Yep, I agree. Mind you, it's kinda sad that some folks never think to check their oil levels, isn't it? I guess maybe what I consider to be common sense isn't so 'common' after all. On the other hand, when I think of all the questions that get posted on this forum that people can answer for themselves if they'd just crack open their owner's manuals, I'm not so shocked anymore.

I never check oil levels...I just change it...

I changed the oil on my Z at around 1250 miles, and I'll do it again at 3750.

After that, I don't know. I might go 3750, I might go longer.

Still a car, even a high compression engine, shouldn't burn through oil like that.

I do check my oil, just not regularly, if at all between changes. I've never had a reason to, until now.

Truck - I check it maybe every 6 months. Like I said, I don't change the oil that often.

Civic - check it when the alarm goes off about oil change interval (which is an approximation for my halfway point on 15K oil)

Bike - never check it, just change it annually.

Z - I checked it a couple weeks ago when someone said theirs was eating oil. Mine was OK. I've since changed the oil and I'll check it again at 3750 before I drop the oil out. If it's fine, I'll likely check it again at either the next oil change, or halfway point...depending on which way I go (3750 changes or 5000 changes)

Don't bother attacking facts (that the Z / VQ37VHR engine burns oil a LOT more than most other engines out there) attack the person's credibility...

Dang with all these 370's burning oil like this, imagine in a few years from now, with a few years under it's belt you guys will be changing the oil every month. This is not good. Hopefully they will address this problem asap. At least my 2011 model.
It will take all of 370z owners to start complaining.

Funny that's the year I'm planning on buying my Z too

! May 2011 be a good year for us students that'll be graduating!! I'm planning on buying the Nismo because buying the 370z base seems like buying a WRX, I want the full package the STi.

I've a question what would of happen to the warranty if you mod your 370 with Stillen G3, Full exhaust system and all the good stuff. Does your warranty void? I'm happy you decided to wait on modding your car because I assume an entire engine replace would been a hassle. I would like to know would if you have modded your car, what would occur if the engine did break down.

its actually more like comparing an STI with a spoiler to an STI without a spoiler.

What you have to do is surf this site and all the questions you have asked have been posted and discussed over and over.So take the time to do that and there is a world of info to learn on here.
