Yup, yup same with me. Turned down the stereo and opened the window to get a better listen, about 2 blocks later...RIP.

One of the reasons it took so long to get parts, coming from Japan and they won't put inifinity parts in the Z. You will basically need all the gasket and seals, cause they will have to pull the cam cover and such.

GL with the repairs.

Sorry to hear what happened to you Lou(I just found this thread). From reading all the posts. do you and Rick have oil coolers?, do you think the cause of oil burning, is the high temp oil reaches in the engine? causes to damage oil seal's and other internal parts?

people who are having this issue. how often do you hit the rev limiter or close to the limit? hitting the rev or high revving causes oil to burn.

Do any of the forum member that have oil cooler have the same issue?

I'm going to keep my eye on my oil level from now on. and an oil cooler is on top of my list for this car. weather its the problem or not. seeing this high oil temp doesn't make me conformable.

P.S. if the solution was keeping the oil temp low by adding an oil cooler. and you already burring oil. adding an oil cooler won't help it to stop. coz the damage already happened.

Bloody hell. high oil temps and now the car uses oil like no tomorrow, makes me start thinking towards spending my money elsewhere in the future. Love the car but if it has a blatant problem like this well......

I just hit 3400 miles. I'm going to check my oil first thing tomorrow morning.

My first oil change was at 1500 miles, and I'm currently at about 4500 miles. Just checked the oil, and it took 2 quarts to bring the oil level back to within L and H on the dipstick. =(

will nissan ever do some kind of recall on this issue? Or if it proves to be the oil temp issue, will they install oil coolers in the future? =(

Dammit! I just checked my oil level and I'm also below the low mark. First thing thing I'm doing is getting a quart of Redline. I guess they 370 does burn oil as expected. I'm constantly at redline or close to it so that might have attributed to it.

well if you are constantly at redline then that maay explain it. Btw, what is wrong with you that you have to have your car constantly at redline?

What I mean by constantly is at least once a day close to or at redline.
BTW I just check my oil and it's back to normal levels after adding 1 quart. I suggest having a spare quart in the house just to be safe.

Well I just went and added about 3/8ths of a quart. This is about 1200 miles since my oil change. Will check later to see if it needs any more.

I imagine all this oil getting burned will end up clogging the cats - especially the OEM cats =/

I can't believe that Nissan (or Infiniti) would consider this normal. Just think of it from the emissions point of view...

You would think Nissan would've remedied this issue by now. What signs of oil consumption do you notice? How much residue do you see on the exhaust tips? Any blue smoke?

During break-in I saw some sticky residue on the exhaust, and it appeared to be normal since everyone else noticed the same.
