Mid class loss is not a good thing for the next Z

That is why they have the FR-S & BRZ, Genesis, Civic Si, Ford Focus, etc. for those that cannot afford a $30 to 45K cars.

The Z needs to stay at the current price and keep it heritage.

Actually the heritage of the Z was an economical light weight sports car, so it's already left some of that behind.


Side note, you always hear the 370z is too heavy, where were all these comments for the 350z which is 100+ lbs heavier? It's not that heavy, but it's no 240z either.

It seems to me most Americans want more, not less for their money. A value equation. So more car, wider and heavier, is being demanded.

We (Z forum) tend to be the opposite, wanting less for the same or more money. I bet most of us would want our Z still, if it were six inches more narrow, 600 pounds lighter and still cost the same. I would pay more for this combo actually.

The Z sells primarily to the upper-middle class and to those who can barely afford it. You can see it in the way Nissan markets the car, and there have been polls on here that have shown it as well.


Nissan is simply being beat at both games currently--the FRS/BRZ has taken a number of buyers that might have otherwise maxed out their debt, and folks looking to spend 30-50K on a car have a lot of choices available to them right now (and given the economic conditions, many are trending towards "practical" cars like the 335). The price games Nissan has been playing haven't been helping in selling to either market either.


There's a lot of demand for smaller cars. The Miata sells well, the S2000 sold well considering, and the Toyobaru is doing OK for itself. Ford is going smaller with the next mustang, etc. The "sporty car" market as a whole has just been tough for a couple of years.

With the country going the way it's going^^^^^those cars will become the norm as the sports cars for the avg. Joe.

I wish Nissan would stay with a car in the 3,000lb. to 3,200lb 350hp-375hp & $30k to $40k range. Unfortunately the hamburger flipping jobs are now becoming the norm. Every year since 2009 less & less 370z's were sold/bought(I think). The pool of young people that can afford a $30k/$40k car is getting smaller fast. Car companies need to sell cars & make money. They have to do what they have to do. So I hope I'm wrong & my feeling of the next Z being smaller, cheaper, & 4cyl. are wrong.

Clean no gimmick body would also be nice.
