Really? The few times I've fired a 9mm or .40 without muffs it's been painful. I've never been dumb enough to uncork the .357 without muffs and earplugs. It's still loud.

How long did it take to get the smell and soot out of the car?

i only did 1 mag while in the car. not my Z btw. it was in my old 01 monte.

smell went away pretty quick since i drive with my windows down a lot regardless lol

There's a lot more room for the sound to dissipate in one of those. Opening fire inside the Z has to be like having a gunfight in a phone booth.

i'm no stranger to deafening sounds and ringing in the ears from a very large number of rock/metal shows and playing drums since 5th grade lol

Yeah, it shouldn't be too bad in a fight or flight scenario. The brain cuts off hearing.

At that moment. Auditory exclusion, right? It's still going to do damage, you're just concentrating on the threat.

Probably, it's supposedly the same as the scenario as when you're in a stand of people yelling, you'd go deaf, if you yell along with them, you won't.

Please, please, please, do NOT be using firearms without hearing protection. Not even to fire off just one or two rounds every now and then. The damage is cumulative. You may not do much damage with one or two shots but you do some damage and the damage is permanent. There is really no need to get used to the bang of your gun. In an emergency you won't notice it. You will lose some hearing but I'm not gonna recommend stopping to put in earplugs when being attacked.

I only refrain from wearing it when hunting deer. Rabbit, I'll wear plugs, or at least one
