once you see --- you got about a gallon and a half left.....
my starvation issue happened with 3 dots and a nice long fast right hander off memorial here in houston. as the image shows the green line means im on the gas, yellow is where i start to sputter and luckily coast to my final spot indicated in red. i tried to start it for 3 minutes but the 100 degree heat had me and my dog hailing a cab to the gas station. http://www.the370z.com/members/fuct-...9237-stall.jpg |
If you dont speak of problems how can anyone learn from them or fix them? I have also never had to call a tow truck mine has always re-primed. Not to mention a 35-40k sports car should not get stuck on the side of the road because we turned to fast.
I have had multiple different fuel starve scenarios as well so sharing the information and tank level at the time can help others. The most common assumption is it only happens on long sweeping turns. I can prove that wrong if anyone wants to go for a ride. :driving: I enjoy reading the stories they are all different and give me more knowledge. I dont have to baby my car around every right hand turn because I know about a fuel starve problem, I just need to know what level my fuel tank should be at. Unfortunatly it cant always be full. Fuel starvation is very real. For me it is a track issue primarily. I need to fill my tank after every 30 minutes on the track or I will get starvation by end of second session and I am still above half tank by two dots.
At Sears Point there is a right hand turn (Turn 2) preceded by a long sweeping left, that nails me every time at 3/4 tank. I once thought it was VDC but with it off it continued. I can not remember ever experiencing starvation on the street but then again it might feel like VDC so I am unsure. Cossie, you are driving your car the way it was meant to be driven. Of course the car was meant to have a better fuel system too. Best of luck. |
Is this fuel starvation something that is fixed on newer models? If not, how much of a problem is this really for a person that sees only street driving?
|
I've not heard of a '13 doing it, then again, maybe we just don't drive it the same...
I don't have any curves like that to try on. |
Yeah I've never had such problems on my 10' has 9k miles, I have taken turns left and right with 2 dots on my fuel gauge before with no hiccups.. I also was only going 15-25mph.

Yeah, but it's easy to go around and try again, so it's not all bad.

http://www.the370z.com/nissan-370z-g...e-problem.html By the way, I have to ask you about your avatar of the old NHL Hartford Whalers Hockey uniform before they moved to Carolina to become the Carolina Hurricanes. Are you from CT or the New England area transplanted to CA? |

I dont understand the fuel pump excuse, wouldnt it do it turning either direction or at low tank levels even in a straight? I am 100% certain my fuel pump is fine.
|
My fuel pump is fine. My Z just don't like hard right hand turns. :icon14:

Should install a external fuel cel in the trunk and pipe it to the purge tank in the tank. Maybe use a valve to keep it shut. If you starve or run out, open the valve and fill the purge back up.
Maybe use a mercury switch and an electronic valve so tight turns the mercury switch turns on, valve opens, fuel dumps into the purge, but straight line the valve is shut so you don't empty the fuel cel. |
