where to purchase highend radar detector at discount?

I am in the market to purchase a passport 9500ix, passport redline or valentine v1. Just wondering if anyone knows which retailer would sell them at a slight discount, given they are expensive.

Any other referrals that I might of overlooked but should consider?

I am located in Fl so any online stores physically located in Fl would add sales tax.

Thanks!!

eBay, get the 9500iX ONLY, $400~ is what you should pay

Amazon had it once for $405

leighspped 06-01-2013 09:32 PM

9500ci 1600

eBay 1000ish that's a discount....

Also detectors show up here now and again

gbrettin 06-01-2013 09:56 PM

You probably wont find an Escort 9500ix under 400 new.

I might as well get it new for peace of mind.

looked everywhere and the standard 'discounted' price across all sites are $450. Is there something new coming out to replace this model? The discounted price is offered on the Escort site.

I have a V1 and love it. Saved my @#$ many times.

The best price for the V1 is on their website. Valentine One radar and laser detectors

You can get one for $399.

A great radar detector.

does the v1 require a professional clean install?

I bought my Escort 9500ci from Forged Performance for $1150 shipped.

No, not at all. You can have the choice to mount to your windshield while utilizing the 12v socket on passenger side, which BTW is my setup. There is a limited amount of cord due to short distance and design of the cord.

You could always hard wire the unit which comes with the necessary hardware.

Check out their website. It is all there. They also have options to hide the unit from sight for discreet monitoring.

Again, the V1 is one awesome detector. Nothing against the Passport unit.....it's just personal preference.

I've had great luck with the Beltronics units.

wow! I didn't know radars can be that $$! I love my Valentine 1 that I got for $325 used. I wonder how good the escort is.

The 9500ci is a jammer system

gbrettin 06-02-2013 11:46 PM

I recently upgraded from a Beltronics RX65 Pro to a Escort 9500ix recently. Pull the trigger on the Escort and don't look back. The detector is REALLY good.

I recently took a trip, to Silverlake in Mears MI, which involved some highway driving for some extended of time. I picked up a K band signal from a cop's car. A chirp from the radar. I checked my speed back to 70mph from 75mph. The signal progressively got stronger. After about 5min, not exaggerating, I finally see a State Trooper's vehicle in the median clocking cars. How many miles away did the radar pick up the signal?

(scratching head... Thinking....Pulls out paper.... realize I have my computer in front of me with a calculator.... 86 that... I have Google....forget Google that's played out... Enter my search into Wolframalpha.com )

The total distance is ... 5.833mi

Sorry, I'm tired.... I've been studying for certification...

gbrettin 06-02-2013 11:49 PM

Oh btw. I think Beltronics and Escort are the same company. Escort is the flagship line.

LakeShow 06-03-2013 12:41 AM

I got my 9500ix on a Amazon Black Friday sale for about $350 brand new with blue display. Best money I've ever spent, definitely worth every penny.

:iagree:

The radars are 100% identical in features, 90% of the parts are the same. Escort has "some" higher tech microchipping and is a more streamlined design. Plus the option of red or blue LED.

In some models, it matters, in others it doesn't. These websites have non-bias testing of various models and brands. You can compare some competing models against each other and find out how much you are willing to spend after weighing the facts and opinions from here and purchase sites..

That said. The passport 9500ix is an awesome unit Either the best or second best, depending what you demand from your unit. . But if your budget is less than $400 without compromise and want the security of a new, warranteed product. There are still excellent options out there for you that are compellingly reliable without the flagship price..

It has all the bands as any decent radar detector does now, and laser. With "Shifting" ability. Plus its not a window mount, its a fully built in system with 4 total sensors. (3F 1R) A GPS enabled, learning system much like the 9500ix.

Totally worth it though, every cruise I go on, I'll get pings way before others do.

alvitdk 06-03-2013 09:36 PM

I installed my second (my wifes car) Whisler Pro-3600, which is a hidden remote radar detector, and added a second rear radar detector to it. Works great, not too pricey and love that it's not visible. You can also add a GPS modul to it, that way you also get red light camera notice, and speed reminders if you like.

If you buy the Escort, make sure you buy it from an authorized dealer. They make it pretty clear they won't honor the warranty if you don't.

It's def. nice, but I couldn't afford that. So I spend half as much on the 9500ix. :icon17:

However, I do have an 8500 for sale... :ugh2:

Vaughanabe13 06-05-2013 10:54 AM

The 9500IX is the ONLY radar detector worth purchasing anymore. It blows everything else off the road. The Valentine 1 is ancient technology in comparison. Disclaimer: I don't own a radar detector, I just did a lot of research on them.

If you get a redline? I would like to see a consumer review of it. It seems to get mixed ratings. Some think it's the greatest radar ever. Some think it's still not as good as the 9500ix and ci in terms of detection???

starview 06-10-2013 10:18 AM

I purchased a redline + blendmount a few weeks ago and have already had a few saves. So it works good in my book. If you are in the market right now and you can wait escort just announced the Escort Maxx which is supposedly super sensitive like the redline with built-in GPS like the 9500ix.

Huh, good to know. My radar does good thus far and i have what was a midrange Bel v995. I'm in the market but not desperate. I see mild degradation over the years with laser detection But my v995 kills on Ka (which is 90% most commonly used where i drive... My v995 is still doing pretty well. But i am going to look into the Maxx. Sounds interesting. Thanks:tiphat:

EDIT: D-D-D-Damn... I hope these features arent all just hype.

Wow, the EscortMax looks great on paper, not to mention physically. It will be interesting to hear what early adopters have to say when it comes out later this month. It sure does look promising.

If this thing tests well??? I will definitely buy without hesitation. I have a feeling it will live up to it's claims.

I laugh at the fact that they have a manufacturing facility in Mississauga, Ontario... It's illegal to use radar detectors here. Having said that, I'm going to need to source one of these out... you know... for um... "off road" testing.

Highway 06-10-2013 07:15 PM

It would take a lot of radar detector to make me get rid of my Valentine 1. The arrows really are a big help on deciding if it's a threat or not.

It's paid for itself several times over.

The arrows really don't have anything to do with a threat. They just give you a general direction to look...

Which, if you need an arrow to pull your head out of the dash and out scanning front and back, then a radar detector isn't going to do you any good.

I am constantly scanning both oncoming and similarly flowing traffic curbs to see if there is a car on the side of the road, and the medians for those crossovers they love to park at. When my radar detector goes off, I get even more paranoid about it. :icon17:

If it's behind you, then it's not a threat. ;)

Not sure if joking....
If behind you it can be a huge threat. Could easily be a cop doing laser or possibly point Ka. The arrows on the V1 are huge for me, when I had mine, it easily gives me a direction to check and verify the threat. The range is great and matches all other companies and I really don't care for traffic cams or the other features.

The V1 gives about a 1 mile indicator so if there's only 1 or 2 dots then the LEO isn't going to be able to lock while moving, his best bet would be to pace if he can get close enough. Laser is protected through something else on the car.

That is one thing I keep looking at investing is a true laser defense.
Though I have been reading up on the all in one solutions, both detection & defense which is really nice, just super pricey.

Laser jamming brings up a slew of legal issues. I don't know how accurate this is but i heard from hearsay, jamming=jail???
