Not biased , 10th. of a mile is 528 ft. covered in only a few seconds at 70mph or more = no time to slow down , plain and simple.
According to you even if it saves you a few tickets the detector is worth it ! What is the logic in that statement, who can afford a $200 -$500 ticket a few times a yr. and expensive surcharges for points against their license. Tell me more about side scanning abilities, when you can't see the speed patrol set up. |

I didn't say it was worth it? I said compare/contrast having the detector and NOT getting tickets, only spending $500, or getting only 1 ticket per 6 month period. After the 4 years which You stipulated, the detector would be cheaper, so why not get one?? :ugh2: What do you mean if you can't see? If you Don't look, it's on you. If the detector goes off and you Don't react, it's on you. If you go around a blind corner at excessive speed, it's on you. You can't blame the detector for a bad driver... |
The majority of the KA band detections were at short range about a 10th. mile for most of them, I really only got 2 long range detections. and 2 questionable distances.
4 out of 8 50/50 is not good odds. |

Quoted for that reason. :tiphat: |
Stand corrected , forgot about the other 2 1/2 mile detection

That is not to say that to someone else they might be... Fair enough? |
You always stand a 50/50 chance no matter what with the detectors...
But without one, your odds might drop to 75/25... that's even less in your favor. :ugh2: |
Bottom line for advice is just buy what ever you want from best buy , they will price match any new amazon item listed on the web and you have 15 days to decide if you want to keep it, I got the 9500 IX for $430 plus tax.
Test them for yourself and come to your own conclusion, as its a free world. |

Did you have it mounted low on the windshield, or up high with the mirror by chance? |
Mounted left of center mirror, in about the middle of the windshield.

Most detections were from the front from confirmed set ups, false signals who knows !!!

I will say I am pleased with my 9500ci due to it being stealth mounted, I don't like the look of the detectors in the windshield. Plus that's something to consider as a projectile in the event of an accident. :ugh2: |
Don't get me wrong I really hoped the detector would have worked and may have kept it or got the new escort model.
From my observations it just confirmed what I had already encountered with the best detectors from the 90's , with the KA band you just didn't get the warning in time. The short range radar is just to hard to really pick up on with most detectors. |

Did the 9500ix have different modes like AUTO, AUTO NO X, HIGHWAY? In AUTO and AUTO NO X, it's not as sensitive as it is in HIGHWAY. Something to consider... |
BTW - If anyone is interested in a detector, there's a member selling a 9500ix right now.

Every K band alert was always a false alert. |

Actually toying with the idea of selling off the Z and getting a off road pre runner truck, or jeep. At least you can drive off road with out worrying about tickets and the more dirt, scratches, dents the better it looks.
It really sucks driving the Z laid back, it reminds me of our old sentra when babying the Z. Just to many police on the roads these days setting up speed traps |
Another positive trip using the V1 over the holiday weekend. Made a trip to Bristol, VA and back and didn't have any issues. Couple of saves and all was good.
I did not use it in VA, but the other 95% of the trip. Can't imagine trips without it. |
