Argh!!!!

Default Argh!!!!

Was at service department having my splash guards replaced for the 3rd time (still not fitting properly) and 2 things happened that freaked me out:

First, the service manager called me over to the tech when he was installing the new splash guards (tech was using gumgum adhesive that is usually used for windshields instead of tape). When I get to the tech I notice that my car is up on the lift and the lift arms in front are not situated properly. They were resting on the front of my rocker panels and control arms!!!! I look underneath the car and everything is being pushed up. Tech says no damage is being done and I am being overly protective of my car.

Then, after the car is lowered, I notice that the top of the front bumperwhere it meets with the front quarter panel in front of the driver's side front wheel has chipped paint. The dealership says that they aren't responsible, but it was obvious that do to the incorrect lift arm position the panels flexed and rubbed. The worst part is it is right on the corner point and seam where it meets the quarter panel by the wheel well.

I tried to touch it up but it looks like sh*t. Silver touch up is so hard to match. Should I have the bumper repainted and how much does that usually cost?

i had a hood painted and it costs around $350. i assume it would be close to that. did the tech actually say "you're being overly protective of your car"
i would have slapped that bitch. well, not really, but i would have plenty fuc*in angry

if you call HQ, they will say it's a franchise and you got to deal with the GM of the dealership


if it escalates, then HQ will step in.

Dude, that's total B.S.!

You go to the dealer for expert service and they can't even put your car up on the hoist correctly.

Can you imagine if your car was out of warranty and you had to pay $$$ for dealer service, all the while thinking that you're paying top dollar for top service and then you end up having this s*** happen.

Totally, totally unacceptable.

Is it really that hard for them to figure this out?

Kinda makes you wonder about how they handle "difficult" stuff.

Not in my case. My dealer charged me $169 for wheel locks that they never installed in the first place and when I try to pick up some wheel locks, they had the wrong wheel locks(read the stickied thread in wheels section.) I told them that they're the wrong wheel locks and they(service + parts) kept arguing with me like I had no clue what I'm talking about.

So I immediately contacted Nissan and long story short, the dealership refunded me my $169 since I was out-of-state at that point.

Educ8r, maybe you don't have the confidence or experience to demand that when you buy something "new", it should be perfect and when you go to the experts (Nissan Dealership) they should know how to lift the car correctly.

Maybe the problem is that Nissan Dealerships are used to servicing cars for people who don't have pride in the ownership of their vehicles.

If it was a GTR would you freak out if the car was lifted improperly?

I really am very surprised at your comment.

Regardless lifting the car up by the suspension is just wrong and a dealership of all ppl should know where the lift points on the car are. I'd be having a royal freak out after that.... BBB would be getting a call if it wasn't resolved.

WTh kind of service tech was this? You gotta be tuff and stand firm with the management/owners of the dealership as Nissan USA or the BBB won't or can't do squat about it. If and when you get this taken care of.. I seriously hope you find another dealer.

I had a Infiniti dealership install splash guards on my 06 G35 coupe and noticed gaps in between the splash guards and the body. I wanted to complain but I knew that was the best they can do. Factory installed splash guards are the way to go because dealership techs suck.

When I get my 370z, it's going to have factory installed splash guards on it so I don't go through the drama.

Dude. you need to call the GM and the owner of the dealership. they need to fix this. Show them this thread online. State their name in here. That is what I ahd to do to get action on my FX. Call infiniti as well and lodge a complaint. Took me 1 month But i got the painting done and now the service dept kisses my a$$. Do not back down and take it to the limit. Make a scean in front of other customers. whatever it takes.
