Agree but maybe ill enjoy the Z more?
Even tough my car on a dyno makes 400WHP to make it go 401WHP i have to spend alot of money full engine built, new turbo, etc, etc, and if i go with a bigger turbo, then i have to wait until i hit 4.5k rpm to get a full spool out of it, and my redline is 6.6k so i only get that 400 + whp for 2k rpm... I think that for daily driving like regular trafic driving a z may be more responsive at least from 1k to 5k rpm... And later i can add a supercharger or a turbo to it and get that crazy top end? lol now im just trying to convince my self Like i also have few friends that ride supras, evos, and they are up there 700+ and to get even close to 700 on my gen i probably have to drop 20k on it... and ill be the first one to do it, so it will not be reliable, and will have a hard *** time finding a tuner... With the 370z many of you guys with internal and twin turbos (15k i believe) are making that safe power... |

It most likely won't. To the average BMW/Merc driver, it's just a loud nissan. If you need to fly under the radar for work purposes, the G37 may be the way to go.

Even with the 135i... $2k for chip and tune and you are sitting at ~410. But yeah, the inside sucks. I hate BMW interiors. I was shopping a 135i just a week before I bought the Z. While I still love the look of the M3 and even the Lime Rock edition, that's all it will ever be to me. Just a look. I wanted the Z for what was underneath the skin. The rest I can make to suit me.

I guarantee you will disappointed with this rough course 3.7 engine and crappy manual box. Don't be a Dumbass like me and get into the car based on looks and a weak test drive.
If you want to hit the canyons and stuff sure a z is great with just springs sways and tires but for a street car with power many many better options. |

A Z will definitely be the looker in that group, moreso than the Genesis.
Not to poke the big elephant in the room too hard, but I would definitely think twice and three times about getting a new car just because you want to fit in with the work crowd. Standing out might be nice: Mr. youthful with his go-fast car and less debt....etc. Who knows, just throwing some non-performance thoughts out there!

i've got him on iggy anyways, but yeah i have to agree....as for the OP i definitely suggest a test drive is in order, i remember the first time i test drove a 370 before purchasing and instantly fell in love with the way the car felt and handled. I didnt care that it didnt have the most horsepower or was the fastest at anything, it just felt right the first time i sat in one and i have never looked back since, but to be fair i also did what the OP is doing and did my homework before purchasing unlike "SOME" people who bought purely for looks which is the stupidest way to buy a car in my opinion if you're going to live with the car on a daily basis for any period of time.

One thing that i really like is the support you guys get... look: Forced Induction - Nissan 370Z Forum first 7 post is from companies selling and supporting mods for you guys... You know how many companies are willing to push the genesis past 400 whp? Only one TurboXS... and everytime u change something in your car you cant get it custom tuned it has to be canned tuned which makes you run rich as hell...

A brand new Z can be had for under 35k easily, a TT kit with all the fixings (so this includes a tune) is 15k. OP if you want real numbers: Car - 25-35k TT - 8k Gauges - 1k Clutch upgrade - 1200 Total: 35,000-45,000 That is all you need to be up & running, if you get the factory BBK you will be fine for awhile. I went 19k miles (then added boost) to 50k miles on the stock BBK rotor, pads, etc before replacing them. Coilovers/springs/wheels/tires are not really needed unless you want so throwing those into the cost is not necessary.

He's just unhappy about his car purchase and trying to talk others out of buying a Z by bitching and massaging the numbers to make it look bad. Apparently he doesn't understand that his gripes are vastly in the minority, and being the one contrarian on a forum of enthusiasts who completely disagree is a huge waste of time. It's not a perfect vehicle (hint- that doesn't exist), but it's not the POS he seems to want all of us to think it is.

If you had the 350Z and loved it, you won't be disappointed with the 370Z. Interior is much improved over the 350Z, and I still like it very much till this very day. Since you seem to have experience in the modding world, the 370Z has pretty good support.
Depending on your budget, an '09 can be bought for under $25k. There are several turbo options, and GTM's MHI TT kit seems to hit the spot when it comes to price. It'll definitely get you around 500 whp, which is plenty of power. I'm at 450 whp, and it's enough to shred tires with a big fat grin on my face. Power aside, this car sounds great with an aftermarket exhaust. If you want nice and deep sounding without the rasp, it is definitely possible. So for starters, look at a TT/SC kit for around $5500-7500, 3" exhaust, oil cooler for around $450, aftermarket clutch/flywheel kit, and heavy duty slave cylinder (stock ones will fail), and gauges. Speaking of tires, deep wheels with appropriate offset, fat tires, and a slight drop FTW!
