You decide if thats worth it

Where are you getting your numbers from?
A brand new Z can be had for under 35k easily, a TT kit with all the fixings (so this includes a tune) is 15k.

OP if you want real numbers:
Car - 25-35k
TT - 8k
Gauges - 1k
Clutch upgrade - 1200

Total: 35,000-45,000

That is all you need to be up & running, if you get the factory BBK you will be fine for awhile. I went 19k miles (then added boost) to 50k miles on the stock BBK rotor, pads, etc before replacing them. Coilovers/springs/wheels/tires are not really needed unless you want so throwing those into the cost is not necessary.

He's just unhappy about his car purchase and trying to talk others out of buying a Z by bitching and massaging the numbers to make it look bad. Apparently he doesn't understand that his gripes are vastly in the minority, and being the one contrarian on a forum of enthusiasts who completely disagree is a huge waste of time. It's not a perfect vehicle (hint- that doesn't exist), but it's not the POS he seems to want all of us to think it is.

Yep, no car is perfect and by the sounds of the OP he prefers to tinker with cars. Meaning that the brakes are not 100% perfect or the suspension is soft or the exhaust lacks that sports car sound, well that is ok because he is fine with making them better to balance his power or weight changes.

That's the fun part.

So is there anything i should look for on a used Z? like which package i should go with?

Any difference power wise between the new ones and the old ones?

Make sure it has the sport package for sure. Power's the same between all years. Get the manual if you're planning on boost. There's a lot more work required to make the auto stand up to the power.

:iagree:
09-10 make sure you get the steering lock replaced under warranty if has not been (service records will have this)
If you are going boost you will want an oil cooler, focus on sport package, touring is leather seats with navigation option if you want that.

maybe im using the wrong site, but autos.yahoo.com doesnt display the package type:

Used Nissan Z cars in Tampa, FL 33614 - Yahoo! Autos

Is there a way to know from the pic?

If you do decide to get the Z, and want to boost it, then try getting in on this group buy. it will definitely save you a lot of money down the road. The Z is a great car, those who don't like it don't know how to appreciate what the car has to offer. I dont regret my decision at all :tiphat:

Reverting your car back to stock & selling anything aftermarket will net the biggest returns.
Selling to the dealer is easy and will help on tax savings, but usually they will pay a lower cost, just have to weight the options.

SuperMiguel 05-10-2013 10:47 AM

ya i kinda want to take it to the dealer and ask them straight up how much i would get for my car with all the stock parts.. and go calculate from there
