It's nice to see someone doing their home work BEFORE buying a Z. Most people buy them then realize the car isn't what they expected. One thing that gets you is jumping in one and taking it for a test drive. You will realize that the car isn't the fastest but man they are fun to drive! Trying to get a lot of ponies out of them costs you money. You can get some more HP out of them with out going FI buit it won't have the bang for your buck that stock turbo cars have with mods. Anyway I hope you have learned a bit and will make an informed decision so we don't see another regret thread!

And no i have not driven a Z yet, im sure i will feel like is faster than my coupe, since it will have alooooooot more lower power...

Before the gen coupe i had a corolla and before that a 350z (which i misssss alooot) it was a bit ago that i had it but if i remember correctly it handle better than my gen, drif wise (sold it for economical reasons)

I think you will like a stock Z over your modded gen, honestly. But we gotta the ups and downs.

I'll go try one today, but i know it will feel faster (butt trick) :P But def have to think about it... On the genesis world im one of the fastest, in fact here in tampa there just another guy that may hit 400whp (still at the shop), also i get a good amount with the gen, believe or not at least once a day i get asked "What kind of car is that?"

If i get another Z ill be just another Z around nothing special (at the beginning at least :P)

decisions decisions

btw this is my car build: SuperMiguel's Build Thread - Genesis Forum: GenCoupe Hyundai Genesis Forums

A low mileage 370 with GTM's new 16g kit would be a lot of bang for your buck.

You have a lot of money wrapped up in your car already, and your bored this quick? I am not sure if a Z is going to cure you.

No bored, its just where i work at every one drives MB, BMW, expensive cars then every time we go to a clients im the one driving the loud *** Hyundai :P i think driving loud 370z may fix that (just thinking out loud)

Chuck33079 05-09-2013 11:56 AM

It most likely won't. To the average BMW/Merc driver, it's just a loud nissan. If you need to fly under the radar for work purposes, the G37 may be the way to go.

Thats when I used to pull out the Infiniti G37 IPL or the Cayman. My Z is not loud but it does have a cat back.

Are you against getting a BMW/MB yourself? I personally would never buy a MB but there are a few Bimmers I would consider. 335 TT, M3 are both amazing cars.

And if you are talking about dropping another 10-15K on a FI Z. Well you can get 400+ in a stock M3 for that type of money. Unless you are building a full track beast, there is really no need for a TT or super charger on a Z that is a daily driver imo.

The other option someone suggested is to look at the used caymen/boxster market. I would also be looking at used Audi S5's. Amazing car and the used ones start at 40K for recertified vehicles. The S5 is a bad mama jama. Not familiar with the pricing, but audi TT/RS is another great car.

"Because you can" is a perfectly acceptable reason for a TT daily driven Z. It makes the drive to work far more entertaining.

OK that's a reason. Being in Orange County CA though I am happy if I can get into 4th gear on my daily drive though lol.

Even with the 135i... $2k for chip and tune and you are sitting at ~410. But yeah, the inside sucks. I hate BMW interiors. I was shopping a 135i just a week before I bought the Z. While I still love the look of the M3 and even the Lime Rock edition, that's all it will ever be to me. Just a look. I wanted the Z for what was underneath the skin. The rest I can make to suit me.

I guarantee you will disappointed with this rough course 3.7 engine and crappy manual box. Don't be a Dumbass like me and get into the car based on looks and a weak test drive.

If you want to hit the canyons and stuff sure a z is great with just springs sways and tires but for a street car with power many many better options.

Wow... you don't get past 28 mph in your daily commute? That's when Nissan recommends you shift to 5th gear :ugh2: I find myself in 6th on neighborhood roads now that I realize I'm supposed to shift into 6th at 33 mph :icon17:

There are a lot of us who don't share your opinion. "Guarantee" is a strong word to use. I do agree for the need for a thorough flogging of the car on the test drive.
