Service Department Joy Ride

1 Attachment(s)
This morning I dropped my car off to the local Nissan garage. They are looking at my front left shock because I may have blown it up from a minor accident back in December.

About 30min ago I received a text from my brother with an attached picture showing two of the service techs getting into my car with a bag of Burger King and Drinks. When they took off they hauled a$$ onto the main road.

When I pick up my car today I am going to get in my car and then get back out of the car. Then I'm going to talk to the Service Manager asking why my car smells like "Burger and Onion". He will then have a choice to either deal with the situation or dig a big f'n hole.

Needless to say I'm rather pist off right now. Yes, I have taken food in my car and Yes I have driven my car fast. Point blank: It is NOT their damn car to joy ride.

I'm curious how you guys/gals would handle the situation?

Just confront the service manager and ask him about it, be polite and see if he is truthful.
If he lies then present the facts and ask for what you feel would cover the cost. Also, be prepared for the service manager to not know so have proof.

do you have another service center near you?

:shakes head:

I would talk to the service manager and see what comes out of it.. I would not hesitate to share the picture and if needed let him know you will be sharing this with Nissan...

at the same time I think it would just suck for the tech's if they were to loose their job over this..

good luck!

Keep your cool, and be aware that the service manager is probably not aware that they took your car out for a spin.

Keep in mind that you've got very little legal recourse and whatever you get out of this will be based in goodwill. Screaming and yelling won't get you nearly as far as being reasonable will.

find out who those guys are and tell them to buy you a whopper with cheeze and a drink with you in another customer's GTR.

this is why i dont trust the dealers.... the nissan canned message lady does not understand... :shakes head:

I agree with both. Don't start yelling at everyone just yet. Present it the service manager, see what he says, then call corporate as well... I'd be pissed and most likely key the cars of those service techs, so if you don't do that, you're a better man than me.

Talk about being at the right place at the right time though

I never leave my car with the techs... I take the day to babysit it if I have to. Plus I tell them I want a list of who drives it, with the locations taken plus kilometres recorded. That let's them know I am DEAD serious about who touches my car....

yah, but what are they going to offer you? free oil change? lol :gtfo2: (not you, the techs)

jayl 05-07-2013 01:28 PM

i hope after that picture your "shock"s" are on the house...

m4a1mustang 05-07-2013 01:28 PM

Yep. Present it to the service manager politely. He may or may not know what happened. See how he deals with it. You have evidence if you need it.

That's all they can do, because I'm a prick, I'd either be gunning for new tires/clutch because they did a burn out, and I'd get a LOT of satisfaction seeing 2 guys getting canned... I actually wouldn't give 2 shìts if they did that with my car, but I'd "be pissed" so I can see those 2 guys talk a nice walk.

Chances are the Manager will deal with it appropriately. If not, you have the evidence to go higher up the food chain... plus a witness.

:iagree: Wait to hear his story if their is one. Then your next stop should be the GM's office of the dearlership.

Are you kidding me????? You bet they should loose their job over this!!! I'm sure there are lots of people out of work just dreaming for a job with Nissan Corp. And you can bet THEY would respect the owners of cars by not taking it for a fast food pickup. I can only hope that the Service Mgr there respects the owners of cars that are brought to be repaired there since the success of his buisness depends on it. I would not hesitate to show that picture to the Service Manager, President of that Dealership, AND to Nissan Corp. I'm sure they will be showing those gentleman the exit door real fast as they should. Maybe McDonalds will hire them!

Hang them but their nuts, seriously. Now, thats the other reason why I have a real time GPS tracking system in my car!
