Handle it calmly, but show you're upset. Speak to the manager directly. Write a letter to Nissan NA if you wish and show them this picture. I'd be seriously pissed off. The only reason your car leaves the lot is for diagnostics work and certainly not for a burger run. Pretty sure the fat *** on the left could do damage to your shocks.

Mr. Q 05-07-2013 03:02 PM

Op - don't get too accusatory with something vague like "burgers and onion" he could always reply with the tech had bad B.O. Instead mention your odometer or trip meter mileage added and present him with the photo. That gets all the bullsht hole digging out of the way and gets you two on the path to compensation.

I always make note of my mileage if i have to surrender my vehicle and i dont even let the inspection people drive off in my car unless I'm in the passenger's seat. It's also why i do every bit of work on my cars that I can. I dont trust anyone with my vehicles

Mr.Q, you should change your handle to Mr.IQ. you make sense!

atl370z 05-07-2013 03:28 PM

Can't wait to hear what the service mgr will reply to this,,,,

1) Don't use deception to combat deception, shows you're no better than they are. Also may start the negotiation of your compensation on the wrong foot.
2) Agree with the many, keep a calm head.
3) Decide what you want as compensation, before going in (be it written or vebal apology from techs, service manager & dealership, suspension of techs, discount on the price of the service they performed, etc). This is very important because, if you don't have an idea of compensation, don't expect them to know what to compensate you either.
4) Be fair, then if the service manager does not give you the compensation you feel you deserve than definitely move it up the food chain.
5) Good luck to you!

I would go with what everyone else is saying....but I would have wanted my brother to confront them with taking the food in the car. No reason why the tech should even be taking a bottle of water in it. They aren't going on a freaking road trip!

CSGLEON 05-07-2013 03:53 PM

Not the first time i have heard of this happening. One guy left a voice recorder in his camaro and the mechanics took his car out and smoked the cluth and said it was like that when they received the car. But of course the voice recorder proved everything and they were hooting and hollering smoke the tires ext..

The local Ford dealership got busted when one of their techs took a customer's Lightning to a strip club and left the receipt in the cab :shakes head:

gbrettin 05-07-2013 04:04 PM

I handled it cool and explained the situation.

My car needs a new motor mount and it is being taken care of free of charge. The dealer is taken care of me.

I'm not sure what's happening to the techs but that's nmfp.
