I had a Porsche Cayman S, then a 911 Carrera S, sold them to buy a 1 year old 370Z 7AT ...because of the running costs.. Funny thing is, I never looked back, I love my Z

I've owned two cars that ran 12's before I was 18... owned 6 altogether and not even 20 yet. No record for me? :hello:

You earn the "Most Money Received from Parents" record :-p

And either way, 12's are nothing.

My parents bought my first car..the civic. I wasn't satisfied. So I got a Job as a pizza hut delivery driver and made 60 bucks in tips every night.. and then bought a 350z. My dream car at the time. That's the only car they helped me with.

And 12's up here where I live is fast with the altitude as high as it is. Cobras don't even run 12's here.

Grats, I had a 1989 Geo Spectrum given to me from my dad, which was totalled out within a year due to frame rust. Then I bought everything by myself after that w/o any help.

Only point Im making is, grats on having things handed to you, but dont try to brag about it.

And 12's are still pretty slow regardless of altitude :-p

Pics or it didn't happen. Not to mention I'm sure there's plenty of people with more "braggable" past or current stables, they just have the taste and class not to make a big deal out of it. Congrats on being an extra in The Fast and Furious, your parents must be proud.

Dude, nobody on this forum ever had a fast car at a young. And I'm positive there's no one that did it self funded

Yeah... he not only BOUGHT the 350z car all by himself (AND made 60 bucks EVERY night, mind you... EVERY night. :icon14:), he also modded these so-called "cars" into 12 second cars.

Wow.

Wait, I just woke up.

12's in a 4 cyl isn't bad.
lol haters. I'm not bragging. This thread is called "what did you drive before your 370z" right? 60 a night plus min wage actually ads up. I was making like 1,500 a month...that's plenty for a car payment when you still live at home and have no other bills.. and I didn't buy it all by myself. My parents did co-sign. And being a pizza boy is awesome...but shortly after I got my Z I got a job as a graphic designer so I wouldn't have to deliver in a z...not sure anyone has ever done that but it just seems wrong. :tiphat:

You're bragging and you dont even know it - you wanted some record for having 6 cars, 2 of which were in the 12's and you're only 19. Just because you said you arent bragging, doesnt mean your first post didnt strongly imply that.

Nothing personal, but looking at the pretty house in your pictures give us all the answers. And how much of those tips did you pay taxes on anyway?

You obviously had a nice little booster seat to ride on courtesy of your parents - between being given cars, them co-signing a loan, living with them and probably not paying for jack, and no DOUBT giving you plenty more to go with it. But its ok, nobody's going to judge you on that - its nice to be raised in a family thats well off. Everyone who grew up in the lower-middle class world is jealous of that. Just dont come in here saying what you did, and think anyone's going to buy your story 100% lol.

Well say whatever you think. Pick on the kid I guess. Yeah my parents are well off but that house was only 90k and my dad built it..and they didn't give me any money if that's what you're thinking. I payed for everything I had then, except food, living and clothes. I paid cell phone, car payment, insurance... I assume any family nowa days will at least give their kids that. You're acting like your mom made you pay for everything down to your toothpaste? Jeez...if you had it hard you don't have to take it out on me. I am living on my own now and pay for everything, but my mom still buys me a little something on my birthday :p does that still make me a rich kid? lol I don't even make enough to afford to eat out with my girlfriend lol :/ My Z is more than 60% of my income.
Oh and I didn't pay any taxes on my tips.. The boss at that time didn't make us record our tips or mileage. He is fired now lol

If I made the payments to the bank for the loan for the car...is that not me paying for my car?

My parents didn’t buy me my first car, had they done so I would have been satisfied with whatever I got. Must have pissed off mom and dad a bit when you went off and sold the car they bought you. In a few years when you actually have some expenses you are going to look back and be pretty pissed at how much money you frivolously threw away at cars and stuff. If you were my kid you'd be paying me rent right about now. And for the record I’m not much older than you, and that attitude you have I think is pretty foolish.

shumby 07-02-2011 05:29 PM

nope not when parents are paying for everyother aspect of your life. Not saying you are not working and making money for the car. But if you had real grownup bills and expences you could not buy this car.

You're exactly right. I kick my self in the butt everyday for selling that car that was given to me for FREE. I wish I would have kept it all along but I was foolish, and my parents were really pissed and pretty much disowned me for awhile. I ended up selling the 350z because I couldn't afford the payments. Yeah I wasn't too smart. Then I got a stable job and decided to try again..that's when I bought the 370. Oh how I would love to not have a car payment...and all the money I've spent on past cars.. I could probably have my z payed off right now. yep. live and learn. should have listened to dad

Not saying that isn't true.. But I do have bills now. I have a little two bedroom apartment I share with a friend and it's pretty tough getting by.

So you couldn't afford the 350 so you sold it. Now you drive a 370 and are barely able to get by. It looks to me you haven't learned your lesson kiddo. You're about to fail out of the school of hard knocks.

Lol, that initial kick in the *** financially is always a huge help in life - moreso than you think, it'd seem. I had to pay for all my clothes and any food I ate that my stepdad didnt make (which was a lot, if you dont like his Austrian cooking). I sure as hell didnt pull in 1500 a month, but I did make a respectable 1100 or so at your age (this was also back in 2001 btw). If I didnt have to pay for all my clothes, gas, insurance and all the other goodies that Im sure you had help with, life would have been MUCH easier back then. This story echos true for many other people, no doubt.

BTW, a "little something" for my birthday was about $50. If you say you got $50 for your birthday, I will call you a liar. Again, this is not a bad thing - but you had things easier than many of us, and thats the bottom line. Dont brag about it, just be happy you did.
