It's also a valid technique at the drag strip. If you're running slicks, you roll through the waterbox and do a full burnout to warm them up. If you're running street tires, you skip the water box and do a mini-burnout (anything more is just wasting rubber) to clean the surface of the tires off.

I'm not a fan of high-school kids doing burnouts and donuts in the street either, but it's not right to say that loss of traction has no place in serious driving.
I'm just referring to what I think of as the typical burnout... flooring the car from a dead stop. My experience in cars I've owned has been that the better cars (911 and 370Z) barely lose any traction at all even when floored. My 70s Z-28 (and numerous front-heavy land shark grandma mobiles I've driven), on the other hand, would burn out at the drop of a hat... the problem is, they didn't have any forward momentum while doing so.

I have a 6M but I believe the 7A will smoke the tires, if you know what you are doing.

Hey guys, reviving the thread again, just yesterday i tried doing a burnout in my a7

Vdc was off and it was even a little wet out, couldn't get the tires to spin at all at a stand still, i was actually able to get the tires to spin more with the vdc on, any suggestions? Im getting new tires in a week and wanna roast the tires before i get my new ones on.
Also i tired doing all this is "d", did i do it wrong and should have used the "1"? Sorry everyone im a noob to this car

You're doing something wrong. How on earth did you get the tires to spin more with VDC ON?!?

Pretty sure there are still some nannies on that you have to overcome even with VDC off. ABLS for example applies the rear brakes when the car detects slip - you cannot turn this off without pulling the STOP LAMP fuse or installing an inline switch for the yaw sensor.

That is probably my problem then, i did read there was a fuse i might have to pull or bypass but i was trying to avoid that lol..is it easy to install a switch for that? I would really really hate to pull my fuse just to do a simple burnout

Ive read and watched videos and honestly have no clue what im doing wrong, ive even tried brake boosting

I tried racing my buddy a few days ago with vdc off and when i took off the tires did spin a little but the vdc/"inner tc" still kicked in and stopped me from spinning

May not be able to handle it w/the yaw dis-connected; as it does way more than allow burnouts.

Thinking on trying to just hook up a on/off switch to my stop lamp fuse...try that first and go from there...this wont be somthing i do all the time either tho so i just want a simple solution to do it on the go..now that ive read it i think disabling the yaw sensor is more than i wanna do atm, but ill consider it
