370z is aesthetically a masterpiece

It's been a year since I have had my z,previously owned 2 350's in the past.

Best bang for the buck as far as looks and performance, nothing comes even remotely close in the looks department. ...just saying :stirthepot:

:leghump:

Yes I agree... :excited:

I have been spending allot of quality time with mine, wifi, food, pandora tunes, all of it in the garage... getting ready for turbo install to treat her right. :tiphat:

Something about this car I really like, like no other...

This makes me realize why I love my Z. :)

shadoquad 03-25-2013 10:43 PM

The Z is very photogenic. Some of my favorite pictures I've ever taken are of this car.

I hate the Z, Discuss...... :stirthepot:

It definitely has great aftermarket support as well. Also with the base model it doesn't require much effort to install an aftermarket unit. Newer cars nowadays make it nearly impossible without some kind of aftermarket dash kit of some sort.

It's a good looking car. Very pretty and looks great from most angles. There is one, though, where it looks like a fat turtle. :p

My favorite view is the rear 3/4. I guess that makes sense as I am primarily an azz man.

Were you taking pictures of your Mustang again

Here is the best "bad" photo I can find to show you what I am talking about:

https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-z...720/Ztint3.jpg
Somewhere around this viewing angle you lose the lines and the car looks stubby and fat, and for whatever reason reminds me of a turtle.

But move a bit and it looks great again:

Steve never had a Mustang... he always had a red 370z. Always. Even to this day. :|

m4a1mustang 03-26-2013 08:42 AM

I never even had a Z. I photoshopped everything. Even when I brought it to meets... real time 3d photoshop.

In reality, I drive a Toyota Tercel.

True Story: Many years ago I was cruising down the highway one night when a caravan of 5-6 modded Toyota Tercels pass me in the left lane. I sat there in awe... I had no idea there was a Tercel club.

SurfDog 03-26-2013 08:51 AM

I drove through a wrx meet at a nearby mall last week and every head turned and watched my Z go by lol. (There were a lot of SWEET wrxs there though. its a great Colorado car.) just not as pretty

6MT 03-26-2013 08:58 AM

It is nice to see a thread complimenting the Z. Lately, all there have been are the regret threads...

XiP 03-26-2013 09:02 AM

Title should have been "Do you regret that the 370z is aesthetically a masterpiece?"

IMO, the stock 370z isn't bad, it's just not aggressive enough.

Modded, however (drop/kit/aggressive wheels) it's 9/10.

I just wish it had more power to back up such an aggressive look once modded.

Drop + Spacers and it looks perfect. The wheels are tucked too much from the factory.

sunkist350z 03-26-2013 09:23 AM

370z is a timeless beautiful design definitely looks more expensive than what we paid for and I think the best looking car on the road today for under 100k.

just a bit :|

EDIT: before anyone starts, the base rear rims are 2.3mm more aggressive than the sport rims...

The side profile is the angle that really spoke to me on the Z.

Yea, FI is always an option, but I don't feel that, in today's world, we should have to drop 5k to bring the car up to where it should be (in my eyes).

I'd rather see a 3.0L TT from the factory with direct injection. It doesn't need to put out insane numbers, but it would be very nice for people who want to play with boost.

The VQ is a great engine, don't get me wrong, I just think that they need to head in a different direction rather than making incremental upgrades to the existing platform.

I agree. here's a quick pic of my old ride- I thought the drop/spacer combo with the stock sport wheels was perfect. The wheels are forged and pretty damn light, not to mention they look great. I didn't see any reason to move to a different set. Add in the lip kit and it was all done for me.

So you think a car that is $33k, a v6 and in the low 13 second quarters stock. Which is like 3/10ths or less behind the v8 competition. By nature should have been a 11.5/12.3 second car stock??? That's where it should've been???

Wow... I think you're expectations run higher than reality bruh? :ugh2:

m4a1mustang 03-26-2013 09:37 AM

Very nice!

I never dropped mine, but I added spacers, which really helped with the look. Got rid of most of the tuck.

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-U...hala%25204.jpg

And of course "in action" the ride height took care of itself!

No need to go off on him, man. It's reasonable to wish the car made more power out of the box. No big deal!

cheshirecat 03-26-2013 09:39 AM

^looks fantastic. Just wish it had 20% more power from factory. I can understand why people go from this vehicle to 400hp+ cars, not that you would know :P

Yes? My expectations aren't that high. Do you really think a DI TT 3.0 for approx 35k is "higher than reality"?

I guess the next Z is going to blow your mind when it bows with 30 more hp. Either that, or you're easily impressed.

Also: relax.

I'm not going off. But you gotta look at the engine of the car you bought before you criticize it. This is a 3.7L v6. Not a 5.0 or 6.2 litre v8. I drove so many cars before i bought the Z. some of those cars I test drove were a shytload faster. I chose the Z for other reasons.
I wish to a degree the Z were faster. But I don't think nissan installed a letdown amount of power either.
To act like Nissan should've put more power of the bat is unreasonable considering all the variables of what the Z is. And we have companies like GTM and Fast Intentions handling their business for us. Giving us loads of power and supercar track times. $10k is not a lot for the kind of power boost FI is giving.

My response is to the factory power part. Not the future... I want the next Z to be FI for the same reasons you do. But I just don't feel this V6 is underpowered.

Why should I relax if I'm not yelling at you or anything. I'm not insulting or going off the wall... I'm just sayin.

JungleZ 03-26-2013 09:59 AM

This car looks amazing but Chris Harris review was right, the car is scary to drive in stock form, rough coarse engine sloppy shifting

edub370 03-26-2013 10:02 AM

rear 3/4 views of this car really do it the most justice. also, just needs decatted to get rid of that factory tractor engine feel up top in the revs.

m4a1mustang 03-26-2013 10:04 AM

I always felt like some people want the Z to be more than what it really is. In stock form, it's just a good compromise car. It combines power with agility. Think taking a 5.0 and a S2000 and putting them together... you get something like the 370Z.

Yes, it's not the fastest and it doesn't have the best handling, but it gives you just enough of both, IMO, to satisfy most people. This is something I never really appreciated until after owning both the 5.0 and S2000.

Now, is it possible you can be the best at everything? Probably. I think the C7 might get close to that level... but it's going to be a $60K + car. For the money, the Z is a pretty good value for someone that wants a good GT-style car. Not a full-on sports car or a full-on power car, but rather a well put together combination of both.

There are some small things I can nitpick over, but at the end of the day I appreciate it for what it is.

Agreed. I think the front is even pretty nice with a lip kit. Too round without it.

The VQ is a pretty coarse engine up top, but that is kind of the nature of high-revving V6's (more or less). I do think they should do better, as this is one of the most criticized features of the engine in reviews.

A great car is only as strong as the weakest link in the chain. Luckily for the 370, that link is pretty far down the line, but it does exist.
