How long does the ECU record things

Removing the negative battery for a bit doesn't reset the ECU on this car?

No, because sweet jaybee Heezus it's far. And I'm going back to TX on Monday, so if I got a loaner, I wouldn't be able to bring their car back.

I believe both of you are thinking I have a check engine light.
What I was told by Mr. Dealershitguy was "yeah, your car always keeps track of any codes thrown even though it doesn't give you a check engine light" (this was in regards to my starting issue/starting on 4 cylinders)
I am talking more about a black box-ish thing. I know my 2009 doesn't have a proper one, but I was thinking it had a second ECU or storage for internal codes.
