I am glad I got Gum Metal on my Z. It has proven to be a good color.

I am a big Matt Kuchar fan, but I think Tiger might be back...

Love the gun metal. The midnight blue is really sweet as well.

I'd personally also put the silver in my top 2 Z colors, but my current car for the last 10 years has been silver. I'm ready for something new.

i love silver, it seems like it never gets dirty lol.

Silver is too common in Phoenix. It's considered a Sun City color... Sun City is basically our "reservation" where we keep the old folks. :stirthepot:

Yeah, I admit I love it on my current car. Looks less often dirty and the one ding I have is hard to spot. It's like chicks who wear black yoga pants. Nice at first glance, but you still won't see much with extra staring.

You'd regret choosing black. Pathetic to maintain.

But they do look good when they're detailed. Usually for about 5 minutes.

Now that I made my own spin-off of this thread, I'll answer THIS thread

In a word "no"
When first buying my 370, I didn't care the color, just wanted a good deal. (No red though)
I love the sleekness of black cars, just hate the scratches and dust (I JUST FOUND OUT IT WAS METALLIC!!! Lol), and I'm glad I didn't get PW because I've never seen a bumper that was painted within a few shades...

I think the 40th is THE BEST color combo, then Gunmetal because it's so similar.
But I do think my Monterey Blue is a GREAT color, it fits a sports car (in Dallas everyone and their mother had one while in CA, no one seems to have one )

I think the new MBlue, Midnight Blue, especially with the new rays is it's own masterpiece, it has color, but it's a bit more... "Police friendly" LOL!!!
(Red brake calipers clash though)

Voice59 03-24-2013 01:46 PM

:iagree: I love my black Z, however to truly make a masterpiece of most bodykits/exterior accessories it's extremely hard to show bodylines when everything is black. For that reason only I wish my car was another color.

Although I could always paint the body kit another color, I don't want my exterior mods to look gaudy or intentional, if that makes sense.

The1michael 03-25-2013 06:29 AM

I only own cars in one color..... :driving:

I don't think they do. I'd only have them in red or yellow. Black would be too blah, and blue would really look silly with the shade of blue that the car is.

Black calipers blah??? While I agree that red and yellow look nice on SOME cars. How is black blah? I think for those who have gone with the black and white them or the all black theme. Black calipers make a stronger effect than say killing the whole stream with some bright azz intrusive colors.

Haboob 03-25-2013 09:11 AM

I guess it's just me then. There are always exceptions, no doubt, but I wouldn't have my calipers any other color than what they are now, or yellow, on my car.

Agree i think black is the best color for calipers plus they don't look nearly as bad dirty. My second favorite is the burnt orange of OEM brembos on the z33. Personally I think yellow calipers are tacky unless its a lambo. Red is ok on some cars but I've never been really partial to that color. I think Nissan shouldve kept the black or made it silver like the Akebonos on Infiniti.

asdfsammich 03-25-2013 07:54 PM

Since we've now moved on to caliper color lols.

I wonder if orange would work with solid red and, later if I wrap, matte white.

Hmm... my thread is still alive and well :icon14:
well, as far as calipers go, I like red, and that burnt orange the older Zs had.

I haven't washed it in 6 weeks and have driven it all winter long, not in the snow of course. Seems that when it rains, most of the dirt washes off. Looking forward to some warm weather though so I can really detail it. It is Spring isn't it??? 3 inches of snow on the ground in Northern CT! WTF!!!!!

Weird you mention that the dirt washes off in the rain. I find the opposite to be true with my Z. Rain makes it look filthy dirty, even if it was clean before the rain. Obviously after a fresh wax and polish the rain doesn't do much and just slides off, but when the wax is gone the rain makes some really bad water spots all over the car and any dirt that was on the surface congregates into dirt patches. It's so bad that I sometimes question driving my Z in the rain just because I know how much work it's going to be to clean later. Of course I still drive it anyway, but it's annoying.

It only rains dirt here in Phoenix. It washes nothing away and just leaves more dirt. :shakes head:

Jan 2012 was when I made my decision on a Z (thought about an older NSX, or S2000, or Quattro TT). My dealership had just opened and they had a Black Rose in stock. Last year, 2012 Coupes were hard to get in Ontario (alot of Roadsters). It took me all of March going into the dealership almost everyday and seeing the Black Rose in different lighting (showroom and outside, sunny and overcast, far away and close-up) I literally FELL IN LOVE with the Black Rose.

My 1st choice was Chicane Yellow, and now would be between Magma Red or Midnight Blue. But definitely no regrets with my 2012 Black Rose.

I'm still hoping for the T-top Z32 style to come back in 2015, re-vamped.

Try red. It gets dirty but its hard to tell and see the layer of dust they accumulate because of the dark color.
