You know, I don't really mind these. I don't have them personally, but they do look neat.

I think around here they just try really really hard to not be in with the ricer crowd.

Sort of like Emo kids. They are so non-conformist, that they conform to the non-conformist.

If ricers do it, they hate it by default.

HAHA, I had scissor doors on my Honda Civic once, super riced out.

I didn't keep it on for even a day because the aftermarket one couldn't replicate the way a Lambo door should open as it wasn't designed to clear the roof line or the windshield. Plus it required cable harness extensions, etc. So I took it off and restored it back to its default style. It would have been super cool and not hideous IMO. I don't think only Lambo should be the only car that's allowed to have scissor doors just b/c they pioneered/marketed first. Successful Car manufacturers constantly steal ideas that work and are cool to implement on any car models all the time. I'm sure we all thought the boomerang headlights/tail lights were exclusive to only the 370z. Similar to Audi's LED headlights.

Is it flashy? Hell yes. But isn't the idea of a sports car in general? No matter how blacked out it is, cops and thieves are drawn to it and can spot one out from a mile away.

But I'm not a big fan of those people who just slap any kind of chrome fake scoops or random emblems all over their cars. That's just whack and stupid.

Lol, honestly, if they're a good or well made kit, I don't mind, especially with such long doors. It makes it much easier to get in and out...
But since it's SOOOOOO associated with ricers and the Civic ricers (I don't mind the Civic) I don't do it...

EDIT:
Like scruffy just said!!! LOL!!!:icon18:

Maybe there'll be less stupid door dings from ignorant people that loves to kick/swing their doors open. But it requires so much arm strength to close the door - which is prolly why most car manf. don't wanna adopt this scissor door idea.

You can put whatever you like on the Z, NISMO dose stand for Nissan Motorsports. Bimmers put ///M badges all the time even tho its not one, benz's put AMG badges when they just have AMG wheels...There is no problem since you do actually have the NISMO body kit and your reping NISMO...

Personal opinion, I don't like and extra badges on my cars, I took the 370z off the day I got the car...It keeps the car clean and simple.

hi scruffy- i know wat you're saying. basically for cars that target the normal folk, it needs to be economical. especially a 2 seater, for most people it's going to be a 2nd car or even a 3rd car if household.

since the japanese yen was taking an unfair beating from the rest of the world there's no way in hell nissan couldve accomodated a fully loaded nismo under $45K... that said, i dont think hyundai ever got to their intended sales target with their genesis coupe. they may promote it as such, but at the core, i think they missed the boat since the JPY is finally weakening to a more fair level. JPY needs to be at least 140-150 range to be truely fair, imo. average standard of living is very high in japan.

nissan just kept the essentials and removed everything else to keep the nismo near $40K range so that it was still attainable by a normal folk...

im very gratful that the french guy gave us the G35C and 370Z, even if i had to swap out the HU and some other things on it. i dont mind at all.

I feel you to a point but, 2013 refresh money could have went to better things. Also, fixing the oil cooling issue in 09.5 would have kept sales more steady. I think half the enthusiast market scaled off on the 370z based off the C&D shyt. What happened to the Z34 was a double edged sword. But a car with a legacy like this... I'd rather raise the price of all nissan models $200
to protect the name, reputation and heritage of the 370z.
I love my car as well. have had to tweak where the car lacked. But with the level of competition that suddenly smacked mustang, Z, Vette and 3 series in 2008. They had to be on point with SOME of the complaints. There were a lot of BS complaints. Like NVH and ride comfort... Yeah ok. Nissan attempted to address that instead of oil cooling. SLF etc... By the time they got around to oil cooling. Rep was already imprinted in the word market. Sales continue declining.

As far as hyundai. I would say they are 35/65 on the target market. Gencoupe forum is loaded with modders and tuners doing there thing. The hyundai is much more accessible to people so the market is more mixed. The Z attracts more driving enthusiasts more than tuners. I guess that's where they tried to market the Z. Problem with that though. The looks of the Z screamed tuner.

Z is still an awesome car. Downside is that it currently is not competitive. it's too neutral in an aggressive enthusiast market.

I keep positive thoughts for the Z35. If it can improve and smooth out the Z34? That would be awesome. The

Off topic, but they don't do it because because it's a safety issue
Going back in time... After the Mercedes 300SL gull wing and before the DeLorean there was a gull wing car called the Bricklin SV-1 (Safety Vehicle 1)
Wonder why it died (it looks crappy, but that's to today's standards, besides the point)?
The media said what if the car rolls over? Your "safe" car is now a coffin.
It's for the same reason they don't do scissor or Lambo doors on mainstream cars! :tiphat:

Plus the beauty of the less emblems there are on the car, the less chance someone would steal em.
I had an authentic Type R with that emblem stolen. What's worst is that it left a screw driver hole in my bumper.

Do people even still steal emblems?!? WTF?!?

LiquidCrewZ 02-21-2013 12:59 AM

When I had my mustang, people that had gts would sometimes put cobra bages on. We would call them fobras. They would lack the power to back up anything worth being a cobra. But, if done right, I don't see why you can't delair your car a Nismo edition. If its merited. Go for it.

nmjaxx9 02-21-2013 10:29 PM

Nah thats like putting a Ferrari emblem on a Eclipse. :icon17:

Buy it like that from the factory or dont put it on!!
