In that case, maybe I will just pick up a "Type R" badge from ebay. Maybe even get one for the Z at the same time.

your goal is to have all the luxury of the touring and the nismo styling. it's one of a kind.

mr. gurney converted his 40th to nismo body kit with nismo wheels. looks fantastic. very original.

now going back to the nismo badge... that's completely up to you.

Thank you mr. kenchan, but my car is not a 40th; it's a 2011 Sport Touring. My rims are painted 40th Quartz (KAV).

Your car scruffy, your call. My opinion? No badges. Take the opportunity when they paint your bumpers to shave the hamburgers.

Monday, Wednesday, Friday put the Nismo badge on. Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday take the badge off. Sunday take a break, put the z away and take your family with your mini-van do grocery shoppings. Problem solved.

I do know what you mean when it comes to the dedicated purpose of the Nismo 370z. I am about function too, but when it comes to weight, I don't think the weight difference of the Nav or additional electronics would have killed the performance of the Nismo. Unless it's a full blown race car, and I can say >95% of the Nismo 370z owners actually care about the stripped out stereo and turn it into a dedicated track car. They drive it daily/weekends and would prefer a nicer radio, a/c, possibly heated seats, integrated garage door opener, some maybe even automatic seat adjustments.

Maybe this is a stretch, but if you consider the GT-R for a second or a ///M3, they too have a standard Nav (GT-R w/ that PS3 display too) with all the bells and whistles. But then again those cars are a lot more expensive so one would expect that stuff to come std. I think it comes down to what the general market's willing to pay and what kind of customers they can attract.

A stripped down bare bone interior Nismo 370z at $42K, one would already question if it's really worth it. If they did try to market the JDM Nismo 370z in US, it would easily be another ~$7K-$10K. At that point, they'll realize that the market is very slim and they'll go back to what the general market would pay for and can live without. In the end I believe it's cost. This same goes with the 40th Anniversary edition, aside from US, outside market have the option to get it with a Nav. If you look at what they're already asking for the 40th Anniversary edition, we're already looking at $40K+ MSRP for the same car that's a lot less.

Thanks for the advice, but I already have a Magnetic Black 370z with Dark Gunmetal wheels and dark tint...the last thing I want is to have black pearl emblems or shaved emblems and make the car completely blacked out.

I would prefer to have the silver Nissan emblems just for some contrast in color. I actually kinda miss the Hyper silver wheels look sometime.

HAHA, maybe I will just do that. Right now I'm leaning towards not putting on the Nismo badge, just not sure if I should put the 370z emblem too. But who knows, maybe I will put the Nismo emblem on....i dunno

I'm going to badge mine with:

370Z
GT-Spec-COBRA-R-NISMO-AMG-SS-Type M3Speed-Northstar-Monkeysweat

Meh, Nismo is Nissan's performance line, similar to Mugen for Honda, TRD for Toyota

Although the difference is there is no "Mugen" model Honda...so a tricky one, I think having some Nismo badging/decals is no biggy, but if u are trying to tell people it is a Nismo, that's a whole different story.

TheGreatOne 02-19-2013 08:42 PM

Oh and leaning to no badging whatsoever, keep em guessing lol

Put on a NISMO R badge!

On a side note, I would love to paint my 911 Calipers yellow, but I'm restraining myself from doing so as yellow calipers on 911's means carbon ceramic brakes... Now, if I swaped out my rotors for carbon ceramics, then you better believe I would change my calipers to yellow. Same thing you did, you changed it to a nismo after the fact, you have every right to put on a nismo badge. And I agree with the idea that putting on a GT500 badge on a 5.0 is VERY different from a Nismo on a Nismo conversion. Its impossible to make a 5.0 a GT500, but it is VERY possible to make a 370Z Sport/Touring a Nismo, with just a better interior.

I'm more into debadging myself, but I don't see a problem with it. Nissan sells Nismo S-tune body kits and Nismo stripe kits that say nismo on them. At least its not like putting a GTR badge (or 3 actually) on a Mitsubishi.

Mike, be easy. We all know how it is there in GA. Be grateful he got a Japanese badge on a Japanese car. Any badge with more than 3 letters might have been a real task, I assume. He could have made Georgians look bad (worse ) by putting an AMG badge or a SS badge on the Mitsu.

Is i-vtec still cool? Try putting that on it.
