Default Z is on the train... but why am i not excited??

so i passed by my dealership on the way home from work, and was completely surprised to learn that my Z is ahead of schedule, and will arrive in a matter days.

why am i not more excited? my reaction was a dissapointing "glad to hear," and i was on my way. maybe the wait has been so long (over 2 months now) that the excitement has worn off... thoughts??

i really hope that when pick up day comes, i get the kid in toys r' us feeling... please let this be a case of over anticipation syndrome!!!

It's the old "sizzle and steak syndrome". Sometimes the anticipation (sizzle) can be more gratifying than the actual object of desire (steak). In this case I doubt it though. You will not be dissapointed. The car is all it's supposed to be and more.

It's just a car it shouldn't make you that excited. There are things in life that should get you excited.

Very true. I had been awake for approx 30 hours yesterday when I went to pick up my Z (not because of excitement, but job related stuff). Anyway, by the time I got to the dealership I really just wanted to sign the papers and drive the car home to get some sleep.

Got in the car and started driving home. Tried to keep it under 4000 RPMs as recommended for first 1000 miles. Even being light on the gas pedal, I could tell there's a beast under the hood waiting to be unleashed. I was so thrilled with the drive home, that I didn't go to sleep for another 5 hours after that!!

"(over 2 months now)" ... are you kidding? Just look at some of the posts about people waiting over 4 months!! I've been waiting exactly 3 months now. NISSAN SUCKS with their looonnngg shipping times and absolutely no updates!!!

I just might feel the same way when I finally find out that it has actually landed on Canadian soil. Then, the wait from the west coast to where I am would theoretically be only another week!

Maybe my question to the masses should be... "Are you as disgusted with Nissan as I am on the long wait times for factory orders AND the lack of availability of ANY updates on the progress?" Come on Nissan.... can't you see that people are pissed off??!!

My 2 cents. (sorry for the rant, but I'm frustrated)

If you end up feeling disappointed, you can always buy the GT-R

I almost did. About a month and a half ago, my salesman told me that Nissan almost didn't build my car (along with 7 others from the same dealership). They eventually came through and these eight 370's were built. So, as I was fuming about that bit of news, I contemplated buying a GTR. I would have had to wait until January, but it was feasable.

i'm finding it reaaaaal hard to keep it below 4000 rpms....

i'm the same way though, my car came in a little early and the best i could muster was "great...oh no, my loans aren't approved yet!" but after sitting in it and taking it all in...

You should be asking for Nissan swack because of the looooooonnnnnggggg wait time. For example; hats, t-shirts, coffee mugs, free oil changes, FREE extended warrenty offered from Nissan for there obvious disregard for Canadian customers. Give your sales rep a call and maybe start bugging the owner of the Nissan dealer and get the regional Nissan sales rep number and lets start bugging him everyday till the cars we ordered are in our possesion. (you know who I'm talking about) I'm pissed that a vehicle I've waited 90 days for is in Toronto for sale on a lot without a owner. That has pushed me OVER the edge and I'm now officially pissed to the point of almost telling Nissan where to shove it up their A S S!!!!!!!

rant is definetly not over

Maybe we should do a road trip stateside and buy a couple of Nismo's in the spring?

thank's for the insight everyone! i hope you're all right and when i sit in that seat i go absolutely ape-$hit!!

i not all that upset at the wait time... my dealer was completely honest with me, letting me know it would be 2.5-3 months if i chose to custom order. however, if i was told it would take a month and ended up waiting 3, i'd be livid!!!
