Source please?

The problem has only been common in the EJ257, mostly as a result of the hypereteutic pistons.

If you think piston construction doesn't have anything to do with these failures, you should do some more research as to what a ringland is.

Every STI I've seen that has run into ringland issues has had all the telltale signs of detonation prior to issues, with an owner too hard-headed to fix the root cause.

a quick google search will show the severity of the issue, it happens with modified cars(which is understandable if the car isnt modded correctly), cars with exhausts, and stock cars(i have read a few stories as well) and its most common with WRX and the STi

Shows the severity of the issue in pre-08 cars? I can't find anything.

I'm very familiar with the issue and what it stems from. I would not hesitate to buy one (I did), nor would I hesitate to recommend it to a friend (I hear shadoquad is enjoying his)

afaik, the issue only exists on the new subarus, older subarus dont have the ringland problems the newer ones have
