I like to let the tax collector get a good read on me on his second shot. That way he thinks it was a gun malfunction. The funny thing is I don't really even drive fast. (5-10 over usually.). I just hate being harvested to support out of control local spending. I'd rather spend 2000 buck on ECM then 500 on tickets. |
I could use something very stealthy. These are not legal here, and most traps are laser (lidar) and also speed measurement via aircraft :shakes head:

My car is wired (previous owner) for a passport. Id love to get the 9500ix, if it wernt so ungodly expensive.

The Sport SRM works well too. Unfortunately I usually keep it off so I just pump and dump then hang on!!!

Laser Interceptor is the "best of the best" when it comes to laser jamming, and IIRC, it even has a switch to put the system in "parking sensor only" mode.
"Jammer? No officer, those are parking sensor heads, go ahead and test them." |

Escort Redline or 9500. Both have beat the Valentine in numerous independent tests. I had an Escort 8500 for about 8 years and just upgraded to the Redline when I bought my 2013 Z

Ive got a v1 and it works great! I have to agree that I do feel blind driving without it

6 Attachment(s)
Sorry this took so long here are the 9500ci pix I promised.
Front "diffusers" (in grill next to plate) Attachment 64176 Rear "diffuser" right above plate Attachment 64177 Control head which I might move Attachment 64178 Display unit I will soon be putting onto my mirror to shine from inside Attachment 64179 Led which reflects off my speedo (really only visible at night.) blips red when I'm getting lit up by speed gun Attachment 64180 It's a poor picture but it acts like a kind of heads up display on my speedo. I can't really get a good pic if it cause its dim and overpowered by flash. The display ANC control unit could be way better concealed (you can put them anywhere really.) In fact I just moved it mid post to here (better I think) Attachment 64187 My wrist was bumping the volume while driving sometimes and it looks less out of place there. Anyhow I hope the install pix help. |
 looks good thanks SurfDog

p.s. I made that iphone mount next to the control unit out of an old mophie Juice pack case. It works great. I attached it with som bendy thin iron by pulling out the shift lever cover and screwing it into a screw up on there. Attachment 64188
But that another topic. |
Nice... I am anxious for you to try the display in the mirror...

So, if you are in a "jammer illegal, but detector legal" state, you are still good to go to get one professionally installed. Then its up to you to decide when and where to turn the jammers on. Or just install it yourself, but its pretty involved and you have to pull out a LOT of trim, open the stereo up for a good power lead, unzip your steering wheel, and probably the bumper too. Fun if your a preficient install guy, (I am not THAT good) |

But it easy to master the operator side.. Really once it's set.. It is self sustaining minus the occasionally USB update |
Currently using the 9500ix and the ZR4 shifter. The detector has paid for itself literally countless times over, especially considering the GPS function for speed cameras which are everywhere here. The only good thing is that because of the speed cams generating so much revenue, there are rarely any actual cops out doing speed traps  And radar detectors, laser jammers and all the like are totally legal out here in the 'Wild West' lol.
The ZR4 has been good so far, haven't had any massive saves from it on the HWY yet, but it's bought me some time in the city before. |
Cop radar suggestion needed
Anyone have any suggestions for a decently average cop radar with about a 1 mile range, under 100 bucks? Or maybe the best one I can find in the $50-$100 range? I just can't seem to justify paying $500 for a cop radar knowing I still have the possibility of getting pulled over. Thanks a bunch!
|
The best cop radar is not to speed. Beleive me ive had too many tickets to even count for speeding. Just do the speed limit, and then mash it when no one is looking. :roflpuke2:
|
With radar detectors, you're gonna get what you pay for. Any one thats under $300 isnt worth it.
|
^totally agree
|
Beltronix makes good detectors for $200-300. Buy on Amazon and you're set
|
Does this thread look weird to anyone else???
9500iX FTW BTW |
Top ones for the $300-500 price range are going to be:
Beltronics (not sure on their model numbers in this category) Valentine V1 Escort 9500ix However these will all be window mounted units, and therefore spottable if your state doesn't permit radar detectors, like say VA. |

Also if you're in a state that has Radar Detector Detector usage, (like VA again), there are only 2 that are invisible to these RDDs, the BEL STi, and the Escort 9500ci (which I have).

This might be a very retarded question but will the V1 work in Canadia?
|
the best thing about my Valentine1 is that it picks up almost everything.
the worst thing about my valentine1 is that it picks up almost everything. |
best thing about my V1's are that they are a conversation piece.

I have a few Ladar sites on the way to work. My 9500ci has been working like a champ. I believe that the warning tone only goes until the cop takes his finger off the trigger with a recorded speed. In my area, the warning tone goes for 10 seconds usually meaning the popos are having a hard time reading my speed. In fact, I usually have turned off the 9500 BEFORE they are done lazing.
I was going to get some VEIL for the front plate, but I don't think I need it based on these results. 9500ci. Good stuff. |

Except for the rear laser sensor. That thing goes off ALL THE TIME now. :ugh2: Especially in rain/at night. I get the water refraction can potentially make light enter it at just the right frequency, but come on. I had an hour drive yesterday and I'm sure that thing went off 50+ times. :shakes head: It's not a defective product by any means because when it works, it's awesome. But I'm trying to figure out if my rear sensor has gone bad some how? :ugh2: |
Laser guided cruise control in cars is becoming more common and this will trigger the alarm. Some lane departure warning systems and parking sensors use laser too. Standing water on the road would reflect these systems further towards your car I have no doubt. Mine has never gone off that many times though, maybe 3-4 times in one drive was the max. Something else may be going on with yours.

I try to kill the jammer in 3 seconds or less. I have used most of the LIDAR guns out there and it's not that uncommon to have some cars take a few seconds for a reading. 10 seconds never happens unless the car is running countermeasures. It's best to draw no extra attention. Stealth is your friend. |

Occasionally I get a rear detector false alert but not frequently. I guess laser cruise control is not used much up in the mountains.
