Really, rear laser is kinda pointless anyways. If you get nailed on rear laser, that means you drove all the way up to and right past a cop who's standing out on the side of the road with a gun pointed at you, and you still didn't slow down even after you passed him. Your own damn fault at that point :)

if the cop was sitting on the side of a downward slope onramp and you drive through an underpass in the main lanes, you wont see the cop until he's in your rearview or right side mirror.

now if this was radar, the passport would be going off but from where you wont know at all. with V1, you can tell.

1. If my detector goes off, I don't care where it would be "telling" me it's coming from, I do a 360* scan anyways until I find the emitter.

2. Technically, cops are supposed to be parked where they can be seen from a reasonable distance on the route they are scanning.

Brake light kill switch.

Yeah, if you can believe that.

We've got them sitting in the woods with camo on in some cases around here. My buddy was popped doing 85 in a 70 on HWY 85 between Greenville and Columbia a few years back. He asked the cop why he didn't see the car and he told him they were setup just behind the tree line wearing camo.

It was state law at the time I lived in Georgia. It would be worth looking into it in your state... Otherwise, why would you pull over for some guy in camo running out of the trees pointing a gun at you?? :ugh2:

Guys in camo running the radar, the chase car was around the corner.

Another point here, the officer that pulls you over must be the one that pings you, if it's not, you can challenge that.

In TN the officer doesnt have to be visible at all. Also as long as the officer who spotted you is on the ticket, it doesnt matter who pulls you over.

Edit** Well I take that back. Im not aware of any visibility requirements. There could be some however I have never heard of any.

So im at the point now of buying one of these a V1 or Escort 9500ix. I love how well known both are and I always thought the V1 was top dog. After watching youtube vids most of the night I see they are both the same. However the v1 is said to false nonstop and is always loud where the escort goes quiet. Ive owned 4 detectors in my life, mostly cheaper companies liek Whistler and they worked great, now however with a 370z I feel I need to step it up. I love the arrows on the V1 but love the GPS in the escort plus that new cord they have that connects to your phone and you can report all cops on the road like its the "waze App."

The wife is bugging me to buy it asap because Christmas is next week but im stuck. I love the arrows and the huge name in the V1 but the escort has much more tech built in. grrrr

Oh and as stated above I ALWAYS use Waze app for any long distance drive, that thing is great!

Check out the escort Max.

Just to make decision making a little harder..

The V1 came out FOREVER ago. The Escort products are much newer and all around better. V1's big claim to fame was longest detection distance, but that was on X band and no cop uses that anymore. Also the arrows aren't that useful. No cop shoots from the side, and with experience on the 9500, you'll easily be able to tell if a cop is ahead or behind just by listening to the way it beeps. Just get the 9500 and be done. It's cutting edge. It's got GPS tech that all but eliminates false positives.

I just bought a radar detector. Goodbye cops. :inoutroflpuke:

I've heard it's great, short of being too quiet to hear over reasonable music.

I've got an 8500 x50 blue that I need to see if I can fix. If not, I'll probably trade to the Max.
