I pulled my fuse out today per baer's thread and followed instructions. Is there a way to know if I did it right?

If you no longer hear the ESCL whirring when you first push the start button and the car starts, then you did it right.

I may be wrong about what triggers the ESCL to retract. It may retract when you get in the car. Been so long since mine worked that I don't remember. Just listen for the whirr - if you don't hear it, that's a good sign that you did it right.

It may not be the steering lock after all, because from what I understand now is that if its the steering lock issue then the car wont start at all...
In my case the car tries to start but then stalls...but when trying the 2nd time or giving it gas the first time itll start

hmm yea that is my understanding as well. have you seen this thread?
Car won't start!...and it's not the Steering Lock... i have not encountered the issue yet, but it possibly could be the clutch switch if you have a manual or the brake switch if auto

If you haven't done so already, pull the fuse (or cut the wire). As far as I know, there have been no reports of the steering lock causing problems after the fuse is pulled.

I believe this happened to me today...
Keys work and even swapped out the battery... still no good... red key sign keeps blinking, and when car is locked the red key light is constantly on... I am about to take this to dealership tomorrow, anyone know how much it costs to fix this? I believe I am no longer on the warranty since my car is 4 years old and have around 50k miles on it... |

It's a recall so you are good. It will take a few hours to install if the dealer have the part on stock. |

great info here guys, my 370z would not start and after reading your posts, I fixed it myself and saved thousands of dollars. I am hours from the dealership and took the sl module apart and put a nut in it and voila! it started thanks!!!
