Insurance all depends on where you live, in the past I lived in a smaller big city , then moved to a rural area and I was able to stay with either of the big old companies like state farm, allstate, etc.

But once I moved out west to a big metropolitan city with more than 2 million ppl plus, I was forced to go with Progressive for the motorcycles and Gieco for the cars, all the other companies mentioned here were 20 -40 % higher than Geico or Progressive.

If you are currently owning a standard car and now bought a sports car and your insurance jumps up a lot, its more than likely you are under 30 yrs old, unmarried and you are now driving a more expensive vehicle.

When I bought the 370Z my premium only went up about $150 more every 6 months, as compared to buying a new standard family sedan.

I told her what happened and told her what car I was wanting a quote for.
She said "we can't insure your car. It's a super car"

A super car? Left almost speechless I said "Thanks" and hung up.

If I remember correctly doesn't the General and his penguin buddy ride in a Corvette?
LOL dear god... lol if the Z is classified as a Super Car to them...... then Ferrari, Lambo, Fisker Karma exc are all " God Like" .

I am 23, married, been in 2 head on collisions when I was in high school, both my fault, last speeding ticket was when I was 19. Esurance is pretty damn cheap for my record, I pay $207 a month full coverage.

My wife and I use travelers now, every one else seemed pretty expensive compared to what we are paying now. We have a 2009 Z and a 2007 Audi A4 2.0T, we have full coverage on both of them plus $10,000 custom parts protection on the Z, and we pay about $650 every six months. Other companies were anywhere from $750 to over $1000 for 6 months. Actually one thing that was cool was that when I called them to add the custom parts coverage it didn't raise my rate at all. My wife just totaled her Civic a few months ago and it didn't affect our rates either, so I've been pretty happy with them so far.

I will say this about Allstate, when I was younger I had them covering my '91 ford explorer. There was a local office that i would go to and pay my bill every month, so I got to now the people there, and they also knew my parents since they used them as well. Someone broke into my truck one night and stole my system, worth MAYBE $500-$600. When I called the local Allstate they agreed to replace it for me, and they found out that the speakers and amp I had were discontinued. They ended up getting me top of the line Rockford Fosgate equipment worth about $2000. It was so loud that I had to go back to them a few months later to have my rear windshield replaced after I cracked it with the bass

Forgot to mention I'm 30, the wife is 29, we both have clean records for at least 10 years.

Sent from my iPizzle using magic and new fangled science stuff

All corporations are evil and heartless -- entities aimed purely at profit.

Insurance is a complete fucking racket.

Call around, and just get the cheapest and most reputable you can afford.

Default Insurance as racket

I don't agree that all corporations are evil. They are all impersonal and by definition heartless as, irregardless of how they are considered under law, they are not people and exist only to make money. More a matter of being amoral than immoral IMHO.

In any case, tort law is also a racket, and it sometimes takes one to fight one.

That and the simple fact that, being human, every time you get behind the wheel you are taking a certain risk that you will kill or maim other people going about minding their own business. I once went with the cheapest option and got away with it but many people who had an accident during that time are 20 years along still having their wages garnished or otherwise impacted paying damages that they had a paid a bankrupt insurance company to cover. Having an insurance card is not always the same thing as being insured. Ask the billing clerk at any hospital or doctors office.

Hell even 99% of charities are corrupt with scams and excessive operational costs. The basic facts of life illustrate that anything to do with money has corruption and graft all over it and would sell anyone or thing out for a $1

I wouldn't use State Farm or Allstate ever again. My wife and me have perfect records and they tried to raise our rate by 30% for no reason. No claims nothing.... We had all the best insurance with them both. Requoted through other agents ... Still same high price. I went to Mercury except for Motorhome which was cheaper with Progressive.
Insurance make their own rules and if you haven't been in a accident in a while they figure your going to wreck soon so they bump you off. Weird. No loyality at all. In total, I have over 15 policies with Mercury and Progressive and only pay $3300 per year in insurance. That includes cars, houses, boats, MH, life and earthquake etc...
Never again will I give one red cent to Allstate or State Farm. You should have seen the hoops that Allstate sent us through before we had enough and took our policies away. Can you imagine tracking your mileage every six months and reporting it on 8-10 vehicles? Nighmare.... Oh and the policies were supposed to have unlimitted mileage clause. They must have thought I was renting my cars out or something. Idiots.

Newest addition -2013 Chevy Volt ... 273ft lbs of torque from 0 rpm. Not too bad folks.... Maybe ELR in my future?

With AllState your in good hands...... Thats who I have and they are real good, I have never had a problem. My old 350z was keyed and I placed a claim and had no issues. My home and two other cars are insure through Allstate.

So on my laptop I put in www.usaa.com and General Insurance | General Auto Insurance | Car Insurance Quotes loads. What could be causing that? Some spyware?

Insurance is a game for a lot of companies. Reputable or otherwise (the General's ain't great) its all about how much they have been paying out lately vs profits. They will happily take your money for years but if they are faced with big payouts to cover disasters that WILL have a direct impact on your claim if it happens at a bad time for your company. Regardless of how good a customer you are or have been, they will try every method they can to get out of your claim. That being said, going with a reputable company and paying a touch more may be worth it in the long run. The trick is, from one year to the next, a company like StateFarm can go from reputable to its current ****hole status.

I fully support those who have stated StateFarm is crap. I WAS a StateFarm customer (cars/home/life/rec-toys) for 25+ years with a great record. When I made a claim in 2012, and not a big one, regarding a home accident (pet vs brand NEW 70'' 3D TV )they denied it on a technicality. I pulled all my insurance from them shortly thereafter. Amazing how a 25+ year whole life policy, when pulled, cost them nearly 10 times the value of my claim.

When you shop, don't just shop prices, shop reputation and keep an eye on both over time. Being a long time loyal customer matters little now to many companies but there are some good ones out there. Good Luck

You expected them to cover a pet damaging something?

We are currently an Allstate Agency , we opened 4 months ago. I can tell you Allstate is the best Insurance Companies out there, even for Supplemental Insurance for your employees (if you own a small business)

If you would like a FREE quote just PM me and I will get one of my branch managers in contact with you.
