Pretty much every wheel lock can be overcome in a matter of seconds.

Let me run through them and how you defeat them.

First up.

Defeat with products similar to this..

Most you need to do is find the right size hit with a hammer and put the impact on them. Literally take about 20seconds a wheel to remove. To get the previous lug out of the remover socket you put on ground hit with hammer the locking nut will just fall out.

You can also use the above removers on this style in the same fashion in about the same amount of time. However, if they are less then 19mm you can use

Literally as easy as removing a normal wheel nut.

Again you can use gator grip or outside remover.

This type can be harder to defeat but usually you can go around the outside with a remover or sometimes a inner remover will work depending on stud length.

Locking style like this

You simply drill out the cylinder it doesn't take but a few seconds and you got access to the 6 point under them quite quickly.

The hardest to defeat wheel lock is this one.

They are off of older Porsches but the base is larger then 19mm so a gator grip will not work and you cant use an outside extractor because they machined down the top cover. So if you try to use an out side extractor they simply break off. You have to find a large and deep enough socket to get to the base to remove them and its quite difficult.

I am not a thief or anything but I do own a shop and have to remove wheel locks all the time when people forget where they put the key/special socket. It makes me angry every time I have to remove them and usually owners are shocked by the 10-20 seconds it takes me to take them off. The porsche ones suck! but I have a master key set (collected them over the years) and so I have the proper tool even if the owner as lost them.

Always shitty to see that....

Odd thing is, always seem to be the stock wheels, don't see much about aftermarket or custom wheels being stolen.

I guess on one hand hard to tell offsets and easier to probably point out if they go up for sale? I hope thats the case...

Thankfully overnight my car is parked underground.

So if all these wheel locks fail... is there a set that does now fail at all?

That sucks. I think the best way to help slow down the bastards is to use 5 different wheel locks. Maybe that will work.

What size studs does the 370z have? If they are the same as an older Porsche I think 12x1.5 then use the Porsche wheel locks they are by far the hardest to defeat.

I bet he had it in for service the night before, and he had wheel locks on it.

Some service goons making flat rate, made note of his address on the RO, and rode up to his house to steal this rims.

Seen it happen with people who have escalade/denali trucks living in afluent areas.

I put viper alarms with tilt sensors on all my cars, let me know if anyone is messing with my car. Plus the viper alarm's phone app too, so it doesnt matter if my fob is too far from my car.

I was in NC in Jan and this was sitting outside my hotel. They pulled up the night before and woke up to a missing set of 24's. You can see my car in the background. Damn shame but yeah... a crowded hotel parking lot in a pretty good part of town. People are amazing!

Got his tunes as well...
