Default Has anyone ever had their Z stolen?

I had a dream mine got stolen last night, haha. I was just curious if anyone has every had or heard of their car getting stolen (I seen a bunch of threads about wheels being stolen, but not the whole car). If so how was stolen or is it virtually impossible short of throwing it up on a truck?

I am thinking about doing a security system here in the spring sometime and thought I would ask.

Thanks

Mitch

I'm curious about this as well, Z parts are worth money on the street so I'm sure people have tried before...Having a programed key is probably what makes it hard to get the car on.

Also, I wouldn't want this thread indexed for search engines.

Highly doubt any low life thieves care about 370z, only your forum niche car nerd would probably steal car for a joyride

Are cars are way too hard to steal. That should be the least of your concern. Vandalism is a different story and should be top priority. I don’t even think our cars make the top 5 better yet top 10 most stolen cars in the United States. You just had a nightmare son.

For pros, these cars are the easiest to steal because of the keyless start. That what the cops told me when my car was attempted to be stolen. They can replicate the signal but my G isn't keyless tho.

Easiest way to steal a car, flat bed, pull it on and drive away.
Does not matter what awesome system you have before you can react the car is gone.

I figured as much, I am just am and always have been paranoid about theft. I also understand it comes to being smart where you park and all that, but many of you know that this isnt always ideal.

Has anyone every put a security type tune on their car with up rev? I do this on the Diesel engines I tune up here for some guys.

The reason I am also a bit more worried now is the fact that I have spent alot of $$ on this car over the winter, I will have to talk to my insurance company about seeing if I can tack that onto my premiums.

I just checked out your car. You got the juice. Just watch where you park and look over your shoulder here and there and you should be ok. If you need to get a little sideways do it on the way out never before going to park.

Might want to look into that... I'm going to say that I don't know people buy I know people who can *ahem* Hotwire cars... And your standard Toyota Honda whatever, even with a transponder key... 30 seconds from the time the door it open... (I have seen them do it and I shat myself)
On the other hand... I had 2 different guys try to... Start my 2009 Nissan Maxima without the key... 30 min later they both pretty much have up and said they couldn't do it, and one have me the estimate of 3 HOURS to disconnect everything that's connected to the immobilizer, the push button, the key recognizing thing, the wiring harness...

Hot wiring cars. I forgot all about it. I had a car I hot wired once when the key broke. A Datsun B210. It was easy, and I just figured it out while delivering pizzas at night.

I sure hope we are miles from this happening to our Z's.

I've seen a Corvette repoed in 10 seconds. They had a special truck with a wheel lift that pulled in behind and just lifts the back wheels up and takes off.

Thanks! and yeah I follow that same idea with the stereo in my truck, I never have it cranked pulling into a parking lot or parking around home.

One of my previous 240Z's ignition switch/lock was so worn that a flat screwdriver would start it right up.
